Hmmmm...not really. That stuff contains sodium hydroxide, which can cause scalp burns and premature alopecia if not done properly. Why not try to lay his hair down with the help of Elasta QP Glaze, 360 Stylin' Afro Hair Softener spray (not the aerosol but the pump spray) and a du-rag? Basically brush his hair down with a boar's hair brush and lightly apply these products at night. Then in the morning, brush his hair down and basically have him brush his hair down all day to make it last. Good luck.

I don't know, 4 seems a little young for that. Another route to go would be to use one of those kiddie relaxers made especially for children like "Just for Me" on his hair, but only leave it on for a few minutes so its does not get straight, it just gets curly. Like a texturizer.

i know i'm white or brown or appalachian american but that sounds like a tough style to take care for any length of time at just 4? Is he learning to take daily care himself or do you still do it for him---if you do i would say go for it!

What does a 4 year old know about a S-Curl? He's too young but that's my opinion. Just start off by getting a non chemical wave.
