You and your wife sound like incredibly thoughtful and loving parents...

But...don't be assume that just because a salon demands you drop $150 for a relaxer or other treatment that they will provide you and your daughter with the best service.

Be prepared to have stylists (regardless of wherever you go) encourage you to get a relaxer on her hair...makes their job easier and it will guarantee that you keep coming back.

If your little one does not have a relaxer/perm, I urge you not to allow one to be put on her head, because it will weaken those gorgeous locks and she'll have irreversible damage and breakage.

If, as you said, she has a "solid personal identity,"-- thanks to good upbringing,-- then let her walk in that, and don't be concerned with keeping up appearances amongst her peers.

If they are going to harass and persecute her, they'll do it regardless of how cute her hair is.

So, I wish you well on your search...but dad, don't be fooled into focusing your attention on areas of little importance in the grand scheme of life as far as your little lady is concerned. You keep making sure that she knows, who she is, and most importantly, WHOSE she is.

as you said...GOD bless, and best.

I would suggest going to a beauty supply shop. They often stock hair magazines for all ethnicities or styles she may be able to try on her own if regular appts to the salon are not do-able. Also try salonsofamerica.com. They have a search by zip code and very reputable salons and stylists.
