Nappy curly hair?

Hi i am a black african american male and my hair is very nappy. my hair is short now. but when i grow it out it is very nappy and curly. Anyone have any ideas to make my hair look nice in an afro or any other style. And how to make my hair look straighter. Please may i have some links to. Thanks
