A big thank you to the women or men...?

regarding about African American hair...I don't know that much about the hair..and the differences...so I thought it would be a good thing to learn, and or to ask....thank you for answering so nicely! I really appreciate it! I would have asked my friend, but, I don't know if she would get upset with me or not....thanks!!!

Oh, and what is relaxer, and how does that work? and also, do you still use "hot combs"? or is that a thing of the wayyyy past?

and one more...how delicate is the hair...can it just break? or is it strong as well?

A big thank you to the women or men...?

Relaxer is a really strong chemical solution applied to the hair. Kind of like how a person would apply hair dye. It relaxes the curls in the hair. But it is really damaging because it weakens the hair and if you leave it in too long it can even make some chunks of hair fall out. It's very strong stuff.

Hot combs work and I know people with hot combs. Running a straightening iron through the hair works, too.

I'm not sure how to answer the delicate hair question. If you've ever seen someone get their hair braided it's not exactly treated gently. It's pulled very tight and yanked around. And it's still on their head after! :) But I liked the answer you got in one of your other questions about hair... the one where the woman explained tenderheaded to you?

A big thank you to the women or men...?

both

A big thank you to the women or men...?

Look...most intelligent black women soon come to realize that their hair really looks like s**t..thats why they begin to try and make it look like a white womans...straight,blonde,long,wavy,smoot... name it you will see them either trying to make theirs look like it,or cutting theirs very short and buying white appearing wigs.....if I am wrong I will admit it but then why is the black to white hair industry at 9.6 billion a yr and there are shops that cater to the trade on every street?...riddle me that batboy

Do relaxers wear off ?

I've applied relaxers twice and I'm never doing it again...

But I would like to if they wear off ?

Also how many times a week should I condition my hair ?

I wash my hair once a week with shampoo and every other day with water..

I don't have African American hair btw.

Do relaxers wear off ?

no they do not wear off or grow out...they do not wear off because relaxers chemically alter your hair, breaking the bonds therefore loosening the curl to produce straight hair. they don't grow out, but if you choose to stop relaxing new growth will come in, and if not taken care of properly it will cause the hair to break off at the meeting of the different hair textures. You can condition your hair as much as needed. You have to do what you feel is right for your hair. I rinse my hair with water too. Water is the best moisturizer, unless it's hard water then it can cause damage.

Do relaxers wear off ?

NOOOOOOOO RELAXERS DON'T WEAR OFF

and when you Wash your hair you need to use shampoo and conditioner

Do relaxers wear off ?

yes, relaxers do wear off eventually. But if u go to a hairdresser they can make the process quicker somehow. Washing your hair 1 a week is a little bit too little, i would do it twice a week, and condition once out of that 2.

Hope it helps!

~Becca

Do relaxers wear off ?

No, relaxers are a permenant change in ur hairs structure. They only can grow out. Shampooing is hurtful to damaged hair if u dont condition well and wetting it often is detrimental as well b/c it opens up the cuticles for which allows the cortex in the center to dry out easily. The cortex is the heart of the hair and the cuticle is there to protect it. Any chemical process rearranges the chemical structure of the hair, mainly the cuticle so the cortex is left exposed. Sorry if this is confusing, but i wouldnt relax my hair again either.

How do i keep my hair flat all day ?

i am african american and i recently started straightening my hair , i would love to wear it down but it starts getting poufy and fluffy a little while after i straighten it with the flat iron so right up into a b un it goes . Any tips , tricks or products that will keep it flat and bone straight ? it would be a bonus if any products conditioned too . :)

How do i keep my hair flat all day ?

Well, a lot of times where you live plays a role in the reason your hair gets frizzy again. If you live where there is a lot of humidity, you can forget trying to get rid of frizz..there is just too much moister in the air. However, consider that many black women have many different types of hair. Some hair is just too brittle for flat irons to work..also, your temperature settings may be too low, or your technique is bad. When you flatten your hair, start at the root, and slowly glide the iron down to the ends. You may need to repeat the motion on a section of hair to really get it straight. Also, if you are just starting to straighten your hair, you need to give it time. It is called "training". In other words..your hair will need time to adjust to straightening. So of course for a while your hair wont be as straight as you want..but over time, it will begin to look more the way you want it.

Can anyone remember the name of the actress...?

What was the name of the actress on Diff'rent Strokes that played Arnold and Dudley's teacher. I don't remember what season but her (real) last name was Kennedy. She was very pretty, long hair, African American. I already looked her up on imdb and they don't have her listed in the cast, but she was on several episodes.

I saw her a number of years back hosting a pageant or something on TV, she had gained a bit of weight and she appeared to have a bit of a shakiness, like maybe Parkinsons, perhaps.

Does anyone remember who I'm talking about? What's her first name?

Can anyone remember the name of the actress...?

I think you're talking about Jayne Kennedy.

Can anyone remember the name of the actress...?

no

Can anyone remember the name of the actress...?

Do you remember the character's name?

I think the actress is Pearl Gallagher.

Can anyone remember the name of the actress...?

I want to agree with "Sonya" I also think that it was Jayne Kennedy

Can anyone remember the name of the actress...?

Yes it was Jayne Kennedy.

The only condition that I read about her having is endometriosis but I never heard of that causing the shakiness.

But you never know.

I need help with my dry hair?

To start off i'm an African American male and I decided to start growing my hair May 2007 so far it's going okay. I'm using this hair chemical called Braid Sheen Spray which helps to soften and condition my hair. It's just that my hair is always dry and hard which makes it brittle and it does break off. I just want to know if you guys have any types of lotions or something that you use that keeps your hair soft and maintain moisture? Remember i'm african american so I need a product that will work for me. Thanx

I need help with my dry hair?

I don't know everyone hair is different, but I know lots of people with dreads and braids, and they use lots of different products. I would first suggest you check with some one that specializes in braids and dreads etc, they are the experts, and know just what is needed for your type of hair. On a personal note, I would suggest no products with alcohol in it, something all natural, and easy going on the hair, maybe something specifically for " our ". I think a hot oil treatment, once a week, would be perfect for dry unmanageable hair. I would stop using the BSS for now, and try something else, that is less abrasive, this is probably the problem this item is to strong for your type of hair. You need something gentle, soft , moisturizing, etc. A good overall spray for your hair that I've used and my friend has used on his braids/dreads is the Olive Oil spray. Great price, great smell, love the product. Hope this help.

Hi, I'm stuck on which straightening iron to get! I don't know if I should get a Hai or a

I currently have THICK medium length, relaxed, african american hair. It grows very long though and I plan on growing it out again so I need something that will do well with long, thick hair. Nothing volumizing, please! Also, I have a CHI but lately the plates have been snagging my hair and pulling it out; so, now i'm looking to go up from there.

Hi, I'm stuck on which straightening iron to get! I don't know if I should get a Hai or a Sedu!?

i have neither, i have a solia and i LOVE it. i got my sister one for christmas too and it works magic on her super thick hair! go to: www.folica.com and it'll help you decide because there's a million reviews on there! good luck :)

Hi, I'm stuck on which straightening iron to get! I don't know if I should get a Hai or a Sedu!?

I just saw an article in In Style recomending HAI for thick, hard to style hair. I use a $15 one from Vidal Sasson that I got from an aunt for Christmas a couple years ago, and honestly, I love. The plates are really wide (almost 3 inches!) and it gets really hot.

Hi, I'm stuck on which straightening iron to get! I don't know if I should get a Hai or a Sedu!?

get a chi they r the best my sister is a hair dresser so i know alot about hair so the chi works really well cause my hair is kind of curly in the morning it take the curls right out

Hi, I'm stuck on which straightening iron to get! I don't know if I should get a Hai or a Sedu!?

I hava a HAI and I Iove it. It's the best that I've ever tried. But make sure to save your box, because you have a lifetime warranty on it.

Hi, I'm stuck on which straightening iron to get! I don't know if I should get a Hai or a Sedu!?

Depending on how much you're willing to pay, I would buy the MAXIglide straightening iron. I'm 13 and have very curly hair. My mom saw it on HSN(Home Shopping Network) and it works so great! It works on all hair textures and types. It does provide volume, but don't worry because it comes with and extra plate to switch out to reduce that. The MAXIglide package my mom purchased also came with a MINIglide, shampoo, and conditioner. It has 1-10 settings(depending on your hair type), it heats very fast, and only takes me a short while to do my hair. I love it. =]]

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Okay my all time dream is to have straight black hair with bangs going over my left eye. %26amp;I want them permanently straightened. Is that possible (without damaging my hair)? I also want my hair thinned out, because when I wash it, it gets extremely frizzy %26amp; nappy. Btw, I'm African American/White. When I DO 'flat iron' my hair... I do it with a straightening comb. But when I do, the heat draws up %26amp;later my hair is puffy. I don't want that! I want to walk out into the misty air with straight hair. Gosh, I seriously need advice. If you know a stylist in LA, near 90660-90302 and/or you can list great examples of conditioners;relaxers;%26amp;Straightening irons. Plus I have graduation coming soon reply back. Please %26amp;Thanks.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

You can chemically straighten your hair, but one piece of advice is to make sure that this is really what you want. After this process there is no turning back, but if you straighten your hair every day it would be worth it.

You really can't do chemical treatments on your hair without a little damage. My best suggestion to you is to find a salon in your area that uses opti smooth by matrix. It is one of the best chemical straighteners I have found. Another bonus to this straightener is that it leaves the hair soft and silky after the treatment with minimal damage. Unlike some other straightener I have used that leave the hair feeling dry, Brittle and in need of deep conditioning treatments. This is one of the more expensive permanent straighteners, but like I tell everyone when it comes to your hair you get what you pay for. Good Luck!!!

you should get one.

it makes your hair more manageable and easy to straighten.

as for the bangs you need to take a picture to a salon and ask them to do it for you.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

get it permanently straightened. :).

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

I'm white, so I'm not sure if this will work on african american hair, but I use conditioner and mix some honey in with it when I wash my hair. You rinse it out and it doesn't leave your hair sticky or anything, but it makes your hair cuticles lay down, so there's less frizz. Honey, it works for me EVERYTIME! Plus, investing in a high end flat iron, like a CHI is WELL worth the money....plus they last forever if you take care of them. CHI is all I use....I will never go back to using a regular flat iron again....I highly recommend it.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Here are a few hair sites that offer great advice for growing healthy and long hair. blackhairmedia.com my favorite and longhaircare. You may find the answer to your hair problems. Be careful with the heat it can damage your hair.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

see if a hairdresser would suggest a relaxer.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

You should go to a salon and get your hair relaxed and ask them for the flat iron or straightening comb they recommend you use. I ask my salon hair stylist what is a good flat iron I can use for everyday great hair styles and she said to get Andes Ceramic flat iron you can get at your local walmart or store that sells hair products.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Wow. Thats all the things I EXACTLY want to do to my hair.

Perm Straightened

And Side Bangs

Dont you just admire those peoples hair who are like so straight and shiny..

gees,

you can go to a salon and get a *relaxer* or a *perm straigthen* they cost a lot though and they damadge the hair.

But I say, Do whatever makes you happy =)

If you really want to straighten you're hair( I know I am and I am getting all those things done for my grade 8 graduation) go for it. They are pretty costly. They also have Japanese hair straigthen techniques where they straighten it REALLY well and also deep condition if you want which makes if shiny and really nice.

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

I have those bangs , and I love them .

Anywhoo , go to a shop , get a relaxer . Then , when they clip your ends , tell them that you want bangs , and show them a pic . Or , if there is an Egyptian beauty shop near you , go to them . A good affordable flat iron for black hair is Gold n Hot

I have curly/frizzy/nappy hair, I want it straight; How?

Hi. I think you should use a straightener. Its an appliance like a curling iron, but it has flat plates. There are different ones ranging from cheap to expensive. The one I have is from Conair. Its a curling iron/straightener in one and has setting from 1-25 and turbo(really hot). I only use it for special occasions, which is like 3-4x/year (that one's good in my opinion). I keep hearing Chi is good too, but since its expensive and I rarely straighten my hair, I'd be wasting my money since it will be collecting dust!

If you permanently straighten hair, remember its a chemical. Most people I've known with chemical perms and straighteners have always had problems due to hair breakage, loss, thinning and traction alopecia. So if you really want my opinion, those arent good in the short or long run. I dont know if you really want your hair thinned out because most would kill for thick hair, trust me. You gotta appreciate your hair or else you will always be in bondage with it.

I can give you tips and websites for your hair type. Go to www.motowngirl.com for natural hair care and www.growafrohairlong.com for the crown and glory technique. There's a shampoo method that has tamed my frizzies and hair. I'll give you the short version. When washing hair, first put into some big loose braids. Apply clarifying shampoo only to scalp or hair will feel very dry (only shampoo 1x/week). Massage scalp and rinse out, but DONT MANIPULATE YOUR HAIR AGGRESSIVELY! Squeeze braids if shampoo gets on it. When applying conditioner, take 1 braid down, apply it and smooth until tangles come out (or you can use a wide tooth comb, I dont). Braid back, do to all other braids. Wash out by squeezing braids. You could leave a little bit of conditioner for that soft feel.

When drying hair, DONT USE A TOWEL! It'll cause frizzies and tangles. Squeeze out some water, but still leave wet. Apply an ample amount of moisturizing cream to hair (I use whipped cream from curls.biz) and braid back. Do same thing to other braids and braid back. You can spray a leave-in conditioner in your hair to moisturize more. Let air dry. You could take it out and leave it, straighten it, style it. When I straightened it, this is what I did. It was more managable.

I use products with less chems/none designed for curly hair, but straight can use also. Here are list of websites.

www.curls.biz - I use their whipped cream, curls milkshake, hair ecstasy deep conditioner, quenched curls moisturizer. I have their euphoria elixir for hair straightening.

www.qhemetbiologics.com - used their sidr butter balm to moisturize hair when dry

These are the ones I know. When straightening, get a heat protectant that will give your hair a nice shine too. You also need a good deep conditioner to use w/heat to deep condition hair. Do this 1x/wk or 1x per 2 weeks, whatever you prefer. Dont straighten your hair everyday or often. You WILL be sorry when the damage is done.

Hope this helps you. God bless.

What products should I use after swimming?

I have long, curly, African American hair. I have to swim at school for 2 weeks and I dont want my hair looking like crap. I'm thinking about rinsing it out well with water, putting some leave-in conditioner to hydrate it, and some Paul Mitchell pomade that has a hold to it to keep the curl in. I only have 16 minutes to change out of my bathing suit and get my hair looking decent. I need to do something quick and easy! Please help!

What products should I use after swimming?

I used to swim a lot and my friends always wondered why it didn't damage my extra-dry locks. In fact, my hair was even more beautiful after the swimming pool than before (no kidding!).

My trick is to apply oil on my strands before I put my cap and before I start swimming. Palm oil or coconut oil are great because they are solid at room temperature so you can be sure that you won't leave a greasy trail in the pool. After the swim, I shampoo as usual. But as my hair was protected from the chlore by a waterproof film and was treated to a deep treatment mask for an hour or so, it is nourished and doesn't need extra moisturizing. So this is a quick and easy trick (plus it's cheaper than any leave-in conditionner or moisturizing hair cream you could buy).

Hope this helps.

What products should I use after swimming?

try going to some beauty brand store or whatever..and look for mineral shampoo. it cleanses the chlorine from your hair, preventing a dry scalp and restless hair.

there's a great shampoo and conditioner made especially for swimmers made by ICON. Use a thick conditioner under your swim cap if you chooose to wear one (recommended).

um i don`t know maybe leave your hair down?

Plz help now?

First get your hair relaxed. Then get your hairdresser to give you a nice bob, leaving the length at the front and taking up the back a bit so it's all levelled. Have her put in layers for movement and maybe some highlights to accentuate the movement more.

On bad hair days, where your hair just doesn't want to do what you tell it, I reccommend having it pinned up. I usually do this by taking the hair in 3 sections - one in the front towards the top, and two below. At the top section I twist the lower portion of the hair and push it up to create a bit of volume and then pin that back, do the same with the back pieces and pin them up in the middle.

Does having long hair matter to men?

I'm an African american female, who just cut all her relaxed hair for health reasons. I don't get as many looks or dates anymore ever since I cut my hair.

It seems that a man would easily run pass you to say hello to the chick with the long hair.

If I could grow l would grow my hair long enough to reach my back, but I' can't my hair grows out not down. Atleast I have a beautiful afro though. :3

Is a girl less attractive because she doesn't have long hair?

Does having long hair matter to men?

I feel your pain. I used to have long relaxed hair and I want to be natural because my hair was breaking off and it was falling out. I cut my hair in fall of 06 and I never looked back. The guys at my high school are always teasing me about and girls always say "why would you want nappy hair? You're never gonna find a man?" Please, I don't give a sh!t. If you're not a professional stylist with at least 3 celebrity clients I suggest you STFU about my hair! I feel bad for all the Black women who have become dependent on hair relaxers and weaves to get gratification that they are attractive to Black men.I'm tired of all of this self hate. Sometimes I don't want to deal with Black men because they always have something to say about my hair. I'm natural so deal with it! I found more white people digging my hair and saying that I was beautiful. I can't believe a white man had called me beautiful. Me a dark skinned girl with short and kinky hair.My hair grew a little longer and it's 100x stronger than it ever was and I''m happy. I only wear my hair in braids, twists, and I wear my fro sometimes....I would never relax my hair again....That's a promise...

Does having long hair matter to men?

No, some women can rock short hair styles (like Halle Berry, Jada Pickett) and some can't..It depends on the shape of your head..

I do have I guess medium hair to my back, and I don't think guys are attracted to me just because of my hair, it is my body..which is what i wish it wasn't but it is truth..

I'd rather for a guy to want me because of my mind and not how I look..but it seems most guys can't carry on a conversation with me on my level..they just sit and stare(seriously)

BTW

I wear my hair in natural braids, and I do rock my fro during the summer time

EDIT

BUBU I do agree she looked better with long hair but some men I know think differently, some like her better with short hair...to me either way she was still very pretty

Does having long hair matter to men?

i heard on a tv show that men really REALLY like long hair. i just cut 9 inches of my hair off because i have really curly hair and it was getting difficult to manage, but at my school it didnt seem to matter much. if anything im getting more attention. maye its different in the real world?

Does having long hair matter to men?

Long hair is beautiful on a woman, plain and simple. Plus I think men are genetically programed to seek out women with long hair.

Does having long hair matter to men?

to each his own, some men love short hair, some prefer long hair , some don't have a preference .

if you like pomade, you can use the Indian Hemp (Hair and Scalp Treatment), for some reasons, it grows out your hair. Keep your hair moisturize all the time (especially the ends. Use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Put some aloe vera liquid on your shampoo, it will make your hair strong. You can get the liquid by peeling the aloe vera and blend it in the blender, then pour that liquid (a small amount (not all of it) in your shampoo). Hope that helps.

How can i make my hair grow longer and faster linke before the end of this summer before school starts?

a wig or extensions

How can i make my hair grow longer and faster linke before the end of this summer before school starts?

Go out in the sun alot. Hair and nails always grow faster when it is warm outside.

How can i make my hair grow longer and faster linke before the end of this summer before school starts?

Take daily multivitamins and get LOTS of protein, vitamin C and vitamin E. You need to use a deep conditioner regularly to keep the ends from splitting so you don't lose your hard-earned length! The braiding and the relaxers are SOOO hard on your hair. For next time, pick only one and stick to it.

Styling ethnic hair?

I am looking for an eloquent hair style for a friend who is african american.

Styling ethnic hair?

okay i know this sounds really simple but it works and it looks great. if her hair isn't already long then she should get a weave that is not too long so that it looks super fake and ridiculous but long enough. then just spiral the ends or flip them out with a large barrel curling iron. then spray it lightly with oil sheen(for added shine) and then give it a flip and it will look great and it goes with anything. or if she doesnt want extensions she can just have the front of her hair braided with a unique design and curl the back.good luck.

LOCATE THE MAGAZINE CALLED BLACK HAIR OR BLACK HAIRSTYLES.

Curly, Natural hair???

Im African American. I was born with straight (but afro) hair and I haven't seen my natural hair since I was 9. Im 14 now and Im hearing alot of stories of people who were born with striaght hair, getting curly hair when they become teenagers (but all of them were white). Im wondering if anything like that has happened to black people??? Ive never met any black person who's hair went from straight to curly. Im not sure if it happens to all races or if its just genetic. I wan't to go natural because I love how the curly hair looks (my lucky sister was born with it), but im not sure how my natural hair looks and I was wondering if its possible for it to have changed since I was 9. I want to relax it right now (its driving me crazy) but before I do, I want to know. Has that happened to anyone here???

閳?br>Curly, Natural hair???

mine went from asian straight to wavy soft .....its weird...lol im 1/2 chilean and 1/2 hawaiian

Questions on chemotherapy hair texture changes?

I have 3 questions about the chemotherapy-related hair changes. These don't apply to me, but unfortunately it seems I know of more and more folks dealing with this. :(

1. It seems I always hear of straight-haired people having CURLY hair after it grows back. But what about people with curly hair to begin with -- does it sometimes come back straight? Even in people of black/African-American ancestry?

2. How does this happen? Our hair texture is determined by the shape of the follicles. I think it's something like round follicles produce straight hair and square follicles produce curly hair. Anyway, does chemo actually change the genetically-determined SHAPE of our follicles?

3. How often does a person's hair NOT change in texture when it grows back? Does anyone have their hair come in exactly the same as before?

(P.S. I'm not asking about color changes. That makes more sense. I'm just confused about texture). Thanks all! :)

Questions on chemotherapy hair texture changes?

Mine all fell out- I had naturally curly hair before and it came back in the most beautiful ringlet curls- all I have to do is wet it down and it sprials up. Stronger, shinier...

I have no idea why it happens. Chemotherapy is like a very invasive detox / total cleansing. (I always look for the positive).

I don't believe anyone who loses their hair gives a flip about what happens to their hair as long as it grows back and the cancer stays gone. God bless.

Questions on chemotherapy hair texture changes?

My hair never fell out..I kind of wish it did though because chemo changed the condition of my hair. It used to be soft and shiny and now it tends to be brittle. The hair grows differently b/c it is not yet exposed to sun, dye, styling, etc. Just like a child often has different kind of hair then he/she will have decades later.

Questions on chemotherapy hair texture changes?

I had Chemo all my hair fell out. It grew back the same thick and curly actually more healthy looking.

Questions on chemotherapy hair texture changes?

About half of my hair fell out during CMF chemo. While the new hair was a bit wavier at first, it eventually returned to its original shape- but thicker and shinier! Also- chemo also did something to my facial skin that erased, I swear, some wrinkles!!! I actually look younger now than before!!!

However, I wouldn't recommend chemo as a beauty treatment! Lol!

Questions on chemotherapy hair texture changes?

My hair has come back in so incredibly curly, and i was blonde it came back black and gray.....My hair was curly like this when I was a kid.

Questions on chemotherapy hair texture changes?

i can only site you my example: i started chemo with pin straight hair. now, my hair is wavy in some areas on my head and looks crimped in other areas.

chemo therapy is a pumping of poisons into our systems to battle the cancer. fighting a war with a war. so, who knows why it happens? i just know it does.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

Besides wind, swimming pools, pulling ur hair back constantly, combing, brushing, (im too young for stress), and not trimming regularly. .... and what can I do to make sure my hair wont break off.

Note: I am African American.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

Hair breakage and non-growth are caused by a number of things. Do you use heat on your hair too much? Do you wash it too often? Do you use too many products?

Ethnic hair should be cared for differently, but the problem is many of us over do it. Your hair should be washed either once a week or once every two weeks. A deep conditioner is always recommended. If you relax your hair (which should be about every six weeks), get a trim each time.

In between washes, limit the products you put in your hair, especially gels and hairsprays that harden your hair. All you need is a simple oil sheen or other oil to grease your scalp about twice a week. Stay with the same product. If you continue to switch products too much, your hair will get "confused" and you'll never see any results.

The key is repetition and maintainance. Wash and moisturize regularly and stay away from unecessary products.

You must keep this up to see any positive results.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

if its frizzy get it relaxed or get some cool weave put in it if its short

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

Breakage? from not having a trim regularly,

AND you HAVE to condition.

PLUS, quit doing everything you said you were doing. If you KNOW you are doing it--stop.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

putting too much gel or constantly putting it on

not keeping your scalp moist or greased

and

keeping it in a tight ponytail all the time

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

idn but it cant hurst 2 try and experimwent with other things ok lol so try it

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

Going belimiac can cause hair loss, are you vomiting?

If not, I heard African American's hair usually is very dry, it could be that. Try Head and Shoulders see what that does for you, if not Dove.

The best thing to do is go to a Hair Salone, those people know what to do.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

Breakage from braids, pools(swimming in water with clorine), and not wrapping your hair at night possably.Perming does not cause it to break. if you havent permed your hair in a while it will start to come out easily when you brush it comb etc. you should perm it cuz if u do it wont fall out. only the dead ends that are coming out when u brush it.

trying perming your hair with Botanicals, Africa's Best, or Dark and Lovely.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

Too much handling of any kind.

Also too much sun.

However, not all the hair you see on your pillow is breakage. It's normal for all humans to lose 80 to 100 head hairs a day. If your hair is at all long, that can seem like a lot in the comb, but as long as it's not getting visibly thinner, you're fine.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

just plain styling can make it break off! Try using a heat protectant in your hair to prevent that from happening. I use Protect and Shine serum by Joico and only put in on the ends of my hair while its wet, before I blow dry it. Try to lay off the straightening iron if you use one...

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

If relaxers are not applied correctly, it can lead to breakage and overprocessing. If you sleep on a cotton pillow case, this could also be a problem. I wrap my hair at night and tie it up in a scarf, and I have noticed that in the back edges my hair is breaking, possibly because the scarf is too tight or because it is rubbing against my hair/scalp. You should also make sure that you are conditioning your hair on a regular basis and be careful when it comes to products that you put in your hair. Try not to use heat to style your hair. I use rollers instead of a curling iron. You also might want to visit a professional stylist at least once every two months and they can give you more suggestions specific to your hair.

What factors causes your hair to break off? and how can i prevent it!!?

Getting it trimmed (just a tiny bit) every other week or so will allow the ends to be refreshed and not break so easily

Is there a way to re-curl the ends of kinky twists?

African/ African american hair braiding techniques

Is there a way to re-curl the ends of kinky twists?

Put the ends of the twists in rollers. Boil water on the stove and pour hot water into a mug. Dip the rolled ends of the twists into the hot water. Dab dry to prevent burning yourself with dripping water. After entire head is complete, take out rollers. The ends will now be recurled. It's best to have someone else do the dipping for you so you don't burn yourself.

Edit: You can leave the rollers on overnight if you want but when I got my kinky twists, the lady took the rollers off after doing my whole head and the curls stayed.

Is there a way to re-curl the ends of kinky twists?

my friend just puts little rollers on the ends of hers overnight. she does it with micros and kinky twists, and it seems to work for her.

Is there a way to re-curl the ends of kinky twists?

I would agree with the rolling the twists in rollers (i used regular sponge rollers), and dipping it in a large/tall cup of really hot water. I would put a towel around my neck as to not burn myself too. I would leave the rollers in for at least a few hours (or overnight if possible) so they can be completely dry and the curls tight.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

I'm an African American 21 year old. I've had long hair my whole life and that's a huge part of me--my hair. I want to cut my hair because I want my hair maintainence to be a little easier. Some people may be upset because they like my hair long and it's rare these days to find black girls with (real) long hair. I don't want to regret it once I'm done, but I'm pretty sure that I won't because this is something that I've always wanted and I know I'm old enough now to do it. I'm getting it done today so what do you say? Cut or no cut?

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

If you want to cut it i say go ahead! I was faced with a similar situation...I grew up with really long hair and my family (esp. my mom) always admired it and told me never to cut it. But when it all boils down to it, you have to live with all of that darn hair!! So you should do what you want with it. People with shorter hair usually don't understand all of the mess you have to go through with longer hair. When i turned 18 i decided to cut all of mine off...I hated it. but i thought that's what i wanted at the time. I still keep it considerably shorter (shoulder length) and im very comfortable with it now. I would suggest starting out slow and keep cutting a little bit more off until it gets to a comfortable length. Also, don't worry so much about what other people will think. Good luck with whatever you decide to do! :)

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

no way

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Do what YOU want to do.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

No cut!

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

don't live your life for everyone else cut it.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Do what YOU want to do. If you want to cut it, cut it.

Donate it... it'll make you feel good, and people can't complain then.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Please do not cut it. As a man, I love women with long hair! Not butch cuts.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

If you decide to do it remember, you can donate it to a charity like Locks of Love.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

it's your hair, it's your choice. You can always grow it back out, if you don't like it.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

I'm not African American but....when I had very long hair and decided to get it cut I went just a little shorter than what I had.....worked with it for awhile and then decided to go a bit shorter....and so on. I think if you do it as a gradual process...first others will get used to it and so will you and you will discover what length you feel comfortable at. I have decided over time I enjoy my long hair better so I've let it grow back out but I wanted to let you know what I did ....maybe it would work for you.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

maybe cut it to a nice sholder length and take if from there. If the change isn't too shocking or drastic, cut it again. I would leave a little length. it's hard to grow hair back!

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

don't cut it if you're not sure. just get a trim or cut up to 2 inches.

i've cut my hair short before and have regretted it.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Honestly, do what you want to do. If you want to cut it then go ahead. Its your hair in the end and you're the one who has to live with it. You can't always keep others happy, keep yourself happy first.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

No way!! Your hair sounds gorgeous!! V jealous!! If you want to cut it then sure but be prepared it may not look v good ... have a consultation with your hairdresser before anything goes ahead... they can give you their opinion .... if you decide you don't want to get it done just buy speial shampoos and conditioners to manage your hair ...

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Just cut it like an inch. It will make things a little easier, but your hair will still be really long.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

No you should not cut your hair, just think of how long it would take to grow it back again if you don't like your new look.

Don't think you can just put extensions in to replace it because then you are just like thousands of other wannabes -you have real long hair, be thankfull for it.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

If you cut it, Donate your hair to locks for love.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

cut your hair. then donate your locks to kids with cancer. they make wigs out of your hair for them to wear to make them feel normal. this way, even if you think back and wish you hadn't cut your hair, you'll at least be happy in the fact that you brought a smile to a childs face by donating hair to make a wig for them.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

If you decide to cut it, please consider donating it to locks of love.

http://www.locksoflove.org/

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Go for a trim at first and see how you like it a bit shorter. Long hair if it's cared for properly is for any age and any race if it suits you....take a look at the gorgeous 60 year old Diana Ross.

My vote? Trim. Good luck with your new look, no matter what you decide.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

I think u should go for it. i mean if u had long hair all ur life maybe its time 4 a change. people experiment with their hair all the time. i have short hair and i love it. but make sure that the cut suits ur face. if u hav a long face then don't cut ur hair too short maybe shoulder length.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

I say cut it

Gets you out of that comfort zone....and that's okay

you will always be the same person, just with new hair!!

Great thing is that you can always grow it back with patience

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Why not try. I just cut 5 inches off mine. I miss my long hair but im glad I tried it and I must admit its sooooo much easier and quicker to style. It feels healthier now too. I want my long hair back but at least I know it will grow back and I tried something diff.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

I THINK YES.AND IF YOU GET TIRED YOU CAN ALWAYS WEAR EXTENTIONS UNTIL IT GROWS BACK.YOU WILL BE NERVES AT FIRST BUT THEN YOU FEEL SO LIGHT AND FREE.I'M ALSO AN AA WHO HAD LONG HAIR BUT CHOPPED IT OFF.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

I don't think so, but do what you feel is right.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Every time I cut my hair short, I regret it %26amp; grow it out all over again. Just make sure that is really what you want before you do it.

Maybe try a wig first, to see how it would look on you first.

My hair is long and REAL. Should i cut it??

Here's what I think:

I had waist length hair a few years ago, and I donated 14 inches to locks of love. I still had long hair -- past my shoulders. If you have hair that long, I think you should donate it -- you only need 10 inches, and then it will be shorter, but still kinda' long. If you don't want to cut that much off, just trim a few inches off. Your hair will look healthier, and it will be more manageable.

Good Luck!!

Damaged hair not growing?

Rinsing with beer helps

Damaged hair not growing?

well i'm partially black. But this is what my mama do (she's black). Wash your hair with Pantene for women of color then grease ur roots with hair growing grease, then get it braided up with you natural hair. Good luck!

Damaged hair not growing?

Try using Pantene's Relaxed and Natural shampoo and conditioner. But let me tell you, right not i am growing my hair out, and if i were you i would either STOP perming your hair which is the best thing to do, and just straighten it, or keep perming your hair but use a coarse kiddy perm and straighten it. Remeber to get your ends clipped because the is no way to reverse split ends. Also, putting baby oil on your hair before straightning it helps reduce split ends.

Damaged hair not growing?

get a trim to get rid of the split end and it will start to grow... My friend get extendions and they are so cool, but she said I would look stupid..haha.. also condition your hair once a week.

Damaged hair not growing?

your hair might be breaking because of the dryness and the amount of chemicals that is your hair. a cholesterol treatment might be best for you. to repair and strengthend hair again

Damaged hair not growing?

Keep it trimmed, wash it regularly, condition it, condition it, condition it.

Damaged hair not growing?

do not i repeat do not take a shower every day. you have to get this special stuff, idk what its called ask a hair stylist to do your hair with, just brush it and thats it.

Damaged hair not growing?

First trim it to get rid of damanged hair, stop blow drying and straightening your hair if you do. The only way to stop damanged hair is to stop doing things to damange it. don't dye it or use hot irons because they really take out the moisture in your hair and give you split ends. When you wash your hair, make sure you use a conditioner. Use it on the ends of your hair and make your way up. You don't neccessarily need to make sure you wash ALL the conditioner off, you can keep it in your hair. Continue to do this and don't do things to damange your hair and it'll grow nicely. Best of luck!

Damaged hair not growing?

The massaging steps would help you hair:

1) Stand with your feet apart and start breathing in and out

2) Bend from the waist till the level of your head falls below the waist area.

3) Bring your feet close to each other and start rubbing your scalp with your knuckles all over your head for about half a minute.

4) Slowly start bringing your body to the normal level and continue rubbing on the scalp.

Folicure products? Hair growth and strengthening?

I want to know how good Folicure products are. I am a 21 yr old african american woman and I have very soft, fine hair. It breaks easily and I managed to grow it pretty long, but i have let the wrong hair stylists manage my hair, cut it, and trim it ( which they ended up going cutting crazy) . As a result, my hair is uneven, its thinner than usual and shorter now. I want to grow it back longer and thicker so it doesn't break as easily.

I know that hair growth has alot to do with what you eat but Folicure was recommended to me and I was just wondering... has anybody has had an experience with the product and if it will make my hair grow back faster?

Folicure products? Hair growth and strengthening?

You can first start by messaging your scalp with the balls of your fingers. this will help the blood to circulate which stimulates the hair follicles which promotes hair growth.

You can use a hair dressing, hair creme, or a hair oil that contains natural herbs, vitamins and minerals while you are messaging your scalp.

I use the Doo Gro hair care products and Dr. Miracles hair care products and even Mane 'N Tail hair care products works well.

I have noticed a lot of new growth when I started doing the scalp message.

Folicure products? Hair growth and strengthening?

What is a goog home remedy or hair product for black womens hair to grow??

my hair is a really good length already so dont think im some baldy headed lady lol but i would want my hair to just be a lil bit longer you know?? so wat are some good hair growth creames of greases for the african american women?? that works quick=) thx ppl

What is a goog home remedy or hair product for black womens hair to grow??

No cream, olive oil, castor oil, coconut oil, vitamin E will make your hair grow longer, just promote healthier hair

What is a goog home remedy or hair product for black womens hair to grow??

There are no creams or quick fixes. Longer healthier hair starts from the inside. Prenatal vitamins promote hair and nail growth. Just take good care of your body and eat right.

What is a goog home remedy or hair product for black womens hair to grow??

my hair grow a lot when i keep it gooped up and slicked back in a ponytail for extended periods. no heat, just wet and creamed and gelled. try Sulfur 8, it's strong but good. dirty hair seems to grow too. I know that sounds gross, but when i was too busy to get my hair done for extended periods and all i did was wet and slick back everyday, my hair grew pass my bra straps. and yes, i'm black with long nappy hair..lol

What is a goog home remedy or hair product for black womens hair to grow??

Here is what I do before going to bed, wihtout the honey......

Dont go out and buy anything expensive.

First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)

Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)

Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)

Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short

Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!

The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower

You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner.

When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo %26amp; condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years

You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.

Let it go a few more days between shampooing. Try to use a shampoo and conditioner that both have extra moisterization. I have also heard that you can use extra virgin olive oil. I guess you just sop it on just before the final rinse... *shrugs* Worth a shot. :)

Does Dr. Miracle's Hot Gro really work?

I cut my hair and a lot of it has broken off. I have been using this product for about 2 months now. and I can't really see a difference since I look at my hair everyday.

HELP ME.

what helps african-american hair grow?

details please i am slow.

Does Dr. Miracle's Hot Gro really work?

well hair grows at different rates, so it's gonna be different for everyone. but i wash my hair about once a week with shampoo, conditioner, leave in for chemically/color treated hair and it works good for me. my hair grows fast but i have naturally soft hair thats to my back but i'm black, just depends on how you take care of your hair. don't use too much heat, cut your ends, and wrap your hair up :D

Does Dr. Miracle's Hot Gro really work?

Nothing will work. Those commercial shampoos, hair growers, conditioners, etc are jsut a waste of money.

Only thing that can make hair grow is Minoxidil but I don't recommend unless you're losing hair.

Does Dr. Miracle's Hot Gro really work?

Well I know when my hair broke off, I used a extra moisturizer shampoo ( mane and Tail) instead of Dr. Miracle. And I used a gentle relaxer ( Sensitive scalp by African Pride). And now my hair is down to my shoulders, and not breaking off as bad.

Any hair styles ideas for a ROUND AND CHUBBY FACE?

I am a 20 year old African American female.

I have tried alot of differnt hair styles but i have a VERY ROUND AND CHUBBY FACE.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a hair style that goes with my type of face. Also, i am African-American.

Any hair styles ideas for a ROUND AND CHUBBY FACE?

Definitely something with nice bangs.

Make sure to layer your hair well in the back so your head doesn't end up having a "triangle effect" where it makes your head look more like a cone. I have a chubby face too. I try to keep my hair just above the shoulder with some bangs that go down a bit above the eye brows. This way, it won't cover too much of your face and at the same time, show it off. =) Make sure to always keep something at the front of the face (hence, the bangs) when you pull your hair back . I always leave the shorter strands on the side down. Don't cut your hair so that the entire hair style is framing your face. Try the style where it is a tiny big shorter in the back and it slowly bobs longer to the front. That style is very in this season because you can style afterwards! Hopefully this helps =)

Any hair styles ideas for a ROUND AND CHUBBY FACE?

make sure your hair does not frame around your face, also go for volume, DO NOT STRAIGHTEN IT! haha good luck xx

Any hair styles ideas for a ROUND AND CHUBBY FACE?

Try some hair styles on this site to help you with it

Any hair styles ideas for a ROUND AND CHUBBY FACE?

I think you should let your hair frame your face , so your face won't look as chubby.

You shouldn't straighten it , but if you decide to straighten it then you should def. get some side bangs

Any hair styles ideas for a ROUND AND CHUBBY FACE?

Try a medium crop cut, you know the edgy flips. Try to wear your hair away from your face.

Is there any way to tell what race you are/ were descended from biologically??

Anything like a blood test or any other biological test to tell?

My mother is Hungarian, but my father is German.

I have very African American hair/ possible South American hair. My features are nothing like my parents'.

I asked my mother if my father is my real father and she told me he is.

Is there any way to tell what race you are/ were descended from biologically??

DNA can tell you more than who your parents are, DNA varies from race to race and testing may find trends that would link you to more specific races of people. We are all Homo sapiens, but we are all not the same. DNA tells a lot.

Is there any way to tell what race you are/ were descended from biologically??

There is no way to tell what race you might have in your ancestry but you can have DNA testing done to confirm who your parents are.

Is there any way to tell what race you are/ were descended from biologically??

You could use a search engine to try and find what background your name comes from. Try Google or Yahoo!.

Is there any way to tell what race you are/ were descended from biologically??

race is not a biological concept, but rather a social one. there is not gene for "african-americanism" or to be "asian," rather race is a fluid concept. race is what you identify with, and because of that, technically, you can be a different race than your parents, or your children can be a different race than you. its a pretty abstract concept, but i am learning about it in my anthropology class and its tough to grasp....

but i guess, on the short, no, you cannot take a blood test to tell you race, just who your parents are, which you can trace back to see where your ancestors came from.

Is there any way to tell what race you are/ were descended from biologically??

Now ask your mother if she is your real mother.

Yes, call the state medical association in Springfield, and ask about a dematologist that specializes in this area. I'm sure you'll find someone in Chicagoland that can do the work for you.

Well if you want it curly, scrunch it;

http://www.wikihow.com/Scrunch-Hair

or curl it with a thick curling iron.

If you want it straight, blow dry it then straighten.

Good luck!

Hairstyles??wavy hair?

you should curl your hair then put it half up. the curls will dangle at the back of your head. it looks gorgeous. my sister did this for homecoming it looked amazing. no matter what girl does it.

Hairstyles??wavy hair?

i like the one of ashley. u have to use a twin barrel porcelain iron tho like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34Y48nJCB...

Hairstyles??wavy hair?

My friend one time used rags or towels to scrunch her hair and it looked very cute. You just need to, after you take a shower wrap a few chunks of hair and wrap it all around the towel then tuck it under somewhere or take an elastic and put it around the end of it. Keep doing it till all your hair is up then sleep like that. In the morning it will be kinky curly and you could put it the top up or put it in a very high pony tail and have it like, falling down the side of your face. If your hair is too short you can use bobby pins to hold the back up. Well good luck with it!

Biosilk,CHI silk infusion or REDKEN?

ok so i want to straighten and press my hair but it is african american hair and really nappy and course like i mean rlly

im tired of always going to a salon and paying a lot of money to get it pressed

so i was wondering if after blowdrying or before flat ironing it what products i should use that would be best for my hair

ive heard CHI silk infusion, and BioSilk and Redken Smooth DOwn are good products for straighter results

but tehre are soo many choice

please tell mw what you think!

thanks!

Biosilk,CHI silk infusion or REDKEN?

I had a biosilk and a chi.. and

i would have to say that ..

well.. i mean u have ur advantages and disadvantages with both..

the chi is awesome.. and does the job real well.. but its not as strong as the biosilk..

the biosilk however is so strong that if ur not careful it can leaver pieces of ur hair permanently straight.. and since it heats a whole lot.. and fast.. u have to be careful that u dont leave it on ur hair for too long.. cuz it can burn it easily.. as for the chi it doesnt do that.

Biosilk,CHI silk infusion or REDKEN?

I have used BioSilk and I love it.My hair is very dry and all I need is a little bit.Like a pea size.It makes hair smooth and gets rid of frizzys. The CHI straightner is the best one out there from what I hear(I personaly dont own it)but im sure the CHI silk infusion probably works awesome.

I would try Biosilk.Good luck =)

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let

person cut it 2 years ago. Now it comes a little bit pass my shoulders and half way down my back. I want it 2 be a little longer so I can do a lot of different styles. How much can hair grow in about 6 months. I want 2 color my hair but I know that might make it worse. I wear my hair straight but I look better with it up. But I heard that damages the hair 2. Help! P.S. I'm African American.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Im not sure how fast hair can grow..but i would recommend using a hair strengthening shampoo and conditioner. biolage is really good if your looking for quality. Also I've also heard that wearing hair up can damage it, but a low ponytail will probably be fine. Plus it looks cute so you can try wearing your hair like that until it grows longer.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Well uuummmm...... to makeit grow faster you have to cut the tips to keep it from getting split ends and then it should grow!

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

to help your hair grow faster you should cut about half an inch off your dead ends everyother month. And in some cases coloring your hair can make it look healthier if you do it right. Also putting your hair up doesn't damages your hair if you put it up loosely and not pull too tight.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Make sure you still get frequent trims because dead, dry ends will split and break. Use good quality products for African-American hair, like the KMS Curl-Up line. If you must wear your hair up, use different tools every day. One day use a covered elastic, the next day use a butterfly clip, then try a French Twist pin. If you secure it in the same place or the same way every day, you'll be damaging your hair. Normally, hair grows about half an inch a month, so you're doing half an inch of damage to the mid-shaft of your hair if you put a ponytail in the same place every day.

As for colour, try a semi-or demi-permanent colour that only coats the hair shaft and gives shimmering overtones. Don't use a permanent colour that will REALLY dry and damage your hair, and definitely do NOT bleach! Keep conditioning and putting a shine treatment or spray in every day.

If you use a hot comb or a straightening iron you're also really damaging your hair. If you don't mind slight waves but want to temporarily relax any curl, try very-large rollers under a bonnet dryer. Good luck!

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

deep conditioning and avoid anything that makes your hair dryer like using hot curling iron and blow drying. find a good shampoo and conditioner for your specific hair type.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

I have hair that is all the way down my back. I have similar problems. Cutting the ends helps keep the split ends in check but it doesn't make your hair grow any faster. If you want it to grow faster and stay healthy, take multivitamins and eat healthy.

Coloring your hair isn't going to do a huge amount of damage to it. Just don't overdo it. You don't need to color your entire head every month. Just do the all over color once and then touch up the roots as they grow out.

I also have the problem with the ends drying out and breaking off. What I do the help prevent this is to start brushing my hair from the ends up a little at a time. I do this once a day and finger comb it the rest of the time. Also, a spray-on leave-in conditioner helps as well. Aqualage works wonders for me.

As far putting your hair up, a ponytail isn't going to hurt. Anything more elaborate will. I reserve putting my hair up for special occasions and events. On a daily basis though, I just pull it back from my face with a barrette or I braid it.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

I have tired this Horse Shampoo and Conditioner. I think it is called Mane something. It made my hair grow very fast. I bought mine at Rite Aid. It's in a white bottle with a shadow of a horse on it. Read the directions on it for African American hair. I hope this helps.

How can I get my hair 2 grow faster and keep it from breaking off. My hair was really long and I let the wrong

Wearing hair up *tight* can damage it. Wearing it up tight all the time day after day can pull it out by the roots.

I have not yet heard of wearing it up less-than-tight being harmful. Many people with much longer hair wear it up every day and loosen it each evening. Others do it the other way around, down in the day and braided up at night. Both groups have found their not-tight-all-the-time methods to be safe-enough for their hair.

Trimming split hair doesn't make it grow faster. It keeps it from splitting more quickly. Trimming hair that isn't split doesn't make it grow faster. It just makes it shorter. That's basic knowledge among folk with hair %26gt;36" or %26gt;1m. in length.

Hair growth rates vary with season and from person to person and with individual health and nutrition. Hair usually grows more in the summer, or so I've heard over and over again. Summer isn't here yet.

Life and haircare are much simpler when the color hair grows is accepted with grace.

Half a wig and detangle question?

I have been letting my hair just grow while I wear a half a wig. I do wash my hair daily and find that it has been curling up and getting tangled. I do not want to comb the hair straight and wear it that way under the wig becasue i do not want to break it what de-tangeling tecniques or products can i use on my african-american hair to stop this?

Half a wig and detangle question?

There's a great detangling product called Simply Stylin' that you might want to try. It's made of pure silicone and is very light weight. My hair is pretty kinky, and I put it in after I shampoo. After that, my hair is just silky smooth and soft. They give out free samples so you might want to check them out. simplystylinhair.com.

Best product to tame hair?

My hair is very wavy/curly and it takes me forever to straighten my hair. Even then it's not "straight". It gets frizzy like and hour after I do it. It also poofs out at the bottom and stays flat on top. Anyone know what I can use to have sleek, straight hair that stays that way? I may get a relaxer put in later, but I need something for right now. Any women of color have any tips for me? I see so many women of color that have the most beautiful sleek straight hair and I want that!!! (My hair consistancy is similiar to that of african american women)

Best product to tame hair?

I ahve the exact same problem!!!ok, you first get a shampoo\conditionar , it helps keep hair streight, then it stays streight, the put non curling gel , that should do u !!!! have fun

New question about permanent straightening?

ok, i asked someone about permanent straightening, and they said that i will still have to flat iron my hair (thats what happened to them). i have INCREADIBLY curly, frizzy, REALLY THICK, african-american hair. will permanent straightening really make my hair like bone straight like a flat iron does, or not. oh, and if i permanently straighten my hair and wash it, will it come out?

New question about permanent straightening?

for the most part it will stay flat but it will also be extremely damaged. Permanent straightening is NOT recommended for frizzy or course hair. It will leave you with very damaged hair.

New question about permanent straightening?

if you permanently straighten your hair, you will still have to flat iron it. it will be less frizzy and just a little wavy. it doesn't make your hair completely straight. but it will improve the texture and make it easier to deal with. and no, if you wash it, it won't come out. it's like a perm. it only comes out when your hair grows out. trust me. my mom's been a hair dresser for like 30 years.

New question about permanent straightening?

It's permanent, so it won't just wash out, but you will have to flat iron it from time to time.

The SMALLEST rollers for roller setting.??

Well I"m trying to grow my relaxed african american hair long.

And I heard one of the most needed things to do is roller setting. But the thing is the sides of my hair are REALLY short maybe an inch to an inch and a half long..

I want to start roller setting ASAP, but are there rollers small enough for this?

I was going to let the salon do my first few roller sets, do salons ussually have rollers they do your hair with or must you bring your own, if they do have rollers would they have them in the size I need?

please help 閳?br>The SMALLEST rollers for roller setting.??

if the salon you go to caters to the elderly crowd, there is a good chance that they will have rollers; if not they usually do the roller sets with a curling iron. If you would like to do them yourself, check out a beauty supply store. And yes, there are small rollers you can use. Keep in mind if you want a full "curl" you need to find a roller that your hair can wrap at least 2- 21/2 times around. if you just want more body, then use larger rollers.

best of luck

The SMALLEST rollers for roller setting.??

Yes, can use the smallest perm rods on the sides.

Rollers does not contribute to hair growth, but they can slow down hair breakage.

Yes, the salon has all sizes of perm rods.

The salon has rollers, but when I used to go to the salon I brought my own.

All you will have to do is find a beauty supply store that carries the smallest perm rods, and but several packs.

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?

CHI, my wife has it %26amp; loves it. when flat ironing your hair make sure it is on the hottest possible setting %26amp; keep the iron moving at all times, never stop. Also use some type of thermal protectant. good luck.

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?

CHI, i have one and i LOVE it !!! Your welcome hehe jk

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?

hey! your the same race as me!

chi is the best flat iron for our kinda hair! nothing else will work good! but they are expensive they might be a little over 120$$...maybe about 150.

oh and one more thing...once you start a perm you cant stop other wise all your hair will break out!

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?

Im mixed race and I have african american hair as well. I find that the chi flat iron is better but it works best if your hair is already relaxed. You have to use lots of conditioners though or your hair will break alot. Also use anti- frizz shampoo try john friedas frizz ease.

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?

i don't know about what those hair type type numbers mean but i own a sedu and it's ok. i have heard the chi is best, but both will damage your hair. have you thought of going natural? i embrace my curls now, i'm sick of doing my hair straight all the time. too much effort

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?

CHI totally!! just just be sure that you get the hair syrup that should come with it...cuz if u dont, it will like seriously FRY your hair!

Hi , I have thick wavy short hair and which flat iron brand is better? CHI OR SEDU?
