How Long Do Your Hair Have to Be To Braid It?

I'm a 17 year old African American male. I've grown my hair for about 4-5 months. I've been washing it and my friends recommend I use some Stimulating Oil from this company called Doo-Gro and I've been using it. But the other day I tried to have it braided and the person who tried to braid it says my hair isn't long enough so how long does it have to be to braid it? Please be specific and now jerkish *** comments either.

As a fellow African-American, I recommend you grow your hair for a good 6-9 months before it can withstand braiding.

A good braider can braid to the scalp with a little more than an inch of growth...others need more like 2 inches. But several of my friends can braid very short hair.

It depends on how long your hair is now. if its up to your neck maybe you need it an inch or two longer. if its shorter than that, you need it to be way longer. the regular lenghth is shoulder lenghth for braids

As long as it has to be..... It also depends on the hair type and stuff.
