Don't want to try, might catch something, last time I used them they irritated my skin.

Hi there, did you ever use Africa's best organic products? Can You tell me please if they are good?

They are really rich products...

Too much heavy oil for your hair...

When I do use oil on my hair which is very rarely...

I use tea tree oil...

It works well...

Good Luck!

Does anyone know of a salon that does hair extensions in Ohio or Kentucky?

I live in Kentucky, but I am from Ohio. I would much rather be able to find a salon in Kentucky. I am an african american young lady desperately seeking a new hair style.

There is a place called Chappies in Crescent Springs

閳剧嵒 need a good heat protectant for blow drying?閳?

I have ion heat protectant and I guess it's good for flat ironing my hair but on days I just blow dry my hair it makes my hair really hard.

I heard redken has a heat protectant but is it good with blow drying? I don't want it to make my hair hard.

What heat protectant do you recommend that works for both flat ironing AND blow drying?

P.s Have you tried any ion products, what were your results?

oh and i have african american hair

閳剧嵒 need a good heat protectant for blow drying?閳?

Toni and guy iron it is great. It smells good and it helps straighten. it's ok on wet or dry hair too.

What products should I use for my hair texture?

I am African American woman and I have curly/ wavy hair (like chili from TLC) what products can I use to keep the wet curl look withour it frizzing up?

My fiancee's godchild is comming over tomorrow....?

She is 4 yrs old, bi-racial baby. Black/White. Her hair is always all over the place. Is it safe for me to use white hair products in her hair. I know nothing about african american hair or how to manage it. I just don't want to damage her hair. Can anyone help me.

My fiancee's godchild is comming over tomorrow....?

I'm black mixed, and I have a daughter who is 3 and her father is white. She has mid-back length hair that is all over the place when she wakes up in the morning. Its a curly grade, not frizzy or "nappy" but it is still kind of... lol! What I do is use a wide tooth comb and a little hair lotion like BB, its a really good brand for little kids, and a bit of spray on detangler like Just For Me. First I spray on the detangler, then comb from the ends of her hair and work my way through until all of the tangles are out. After that I put in the hair lotion and she has perfect spirials that need no more styling unless I choose to put her hair in a ponytail or two french braids. Mixed race hair isn't all that much of a matter, its only becomes an obstacle if you see it as one. Also, don't wash her hair everyday, that only incerases the dryness, if you rinse it and condition it every other night that should suffice.

Don't use white hair products cause they are made for normal to oily hair....But whatever you do I don't recommend hair grease.

My fiancee's godchild is comming over tomorrow....?

i amazed with the fact that there are sperate hairproducts for white and black people...

My fiancee's godchild is comming over tomorrow....?

Yes you can but they tend to need more conditioner products though , or leave in type conditioner spray. It helps to control the frizz.

My fiancee's godchild is comming over tomorrow....?

Try pink moisturizer they have it every where walmart, walgreens, etc., its cheap. But it just depends on her hair texture, some people have courser hair than others. Our hair is dryer and more brittle and has to be managed carefully just be careful but I do use white and black products in my hair.. whatever works!

There has to be separate products for black and white people b/c our hair is different why would someone say somethin so stupid.

My fiancee's godchild is comming over tomorrow....?

Yes , it is perfectly safe to use "white products" on her hair. 'White products" just may not work as well as "black products"

My fiancee's godchild is comming over tomorrow....?

Black people have very different hair. They use very little of the products that white people use. I recommend Pointing this question at the black women here.

Is it safe to use pure aloe vera gel on the scalp and hair in between washing my hair once a week?

I am an African American woman. I plan on spraying my hair daily with aloe vera gel to moisturize my hair. I will add a tablespoon of glycerine to it. Is this okay?

Is it safe to use pure aloe vera gel on the scalp and hair in between washing my hair once a week?

That is perfectly safe! Vegetable glyercin is a great humectant and aloe vera tames frizzies and fly aways. They are both great for moisture so go for it.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

I'm African American. I just cut all of my hair off 2 days ago to a fade for another one of my "go natural" phases. How do I get my hair to grow faster than it does? Does it matter how often I wash or wet it? Does the Marsha Brady brushing thing work?

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

How Can I Make My Hair Grow Faster?

The subject I want to discuss today is a question that is often asked and seems to concern many women. It usually comes in two forms; 閳ユ发y hair doesn閳ユ獩 get any longer.閳?and 閳ユ窏ow can I make my hair grow faster?閳?br>

I閳ユ獡 sorry to say that, despite numerous advertising campaigns, there are no magic ointments or quick fix treatments that will make your hair grow faster. The average growth rate is one half inch per month. Sometimes hair does not seem to get longer because the ends are breaking off, making it appear not only, not to grow but even to get shorter. There isn閳ユ獩 anything you can do to increase that, however you can take certain measures to keep your hair as strong as possible.

Let me explain.

The longer your hair is, the 閳ユΖlder閳?the ends of it are. Everyday, wear and tear, such as sun, wind, blow drying, curling irons and other heat styling tools, even shampooing and brushing, all work together to gradually erode each hair. This eventually causes split ends that will, in turn, result in the hair breaking off.

The first step is prevention. Care for your hair as you would any valuable possession. Use a mild shampoo that is recommended for your hair type, such as: oily hair, dry hair, color treated, etc. If you are unsure, seek the advice of a hairdresser. I suggest using a conditioner after every shampoo; again, one that is formulated for your hair type. The conditioner will soften the hair and reduce the amount of wear causing friction between hair strands. Reduce the amount of heat styling you do. Whenever possible, let your hair dry naturally.

Finally, get regular trims. If you are striving for longer hair, see your hairdresser at least every ten to twelve weeks to have one quarter to one half inch trimmed. This will get rid of any budding split ends while, at the same time, allowing for growth.

While making sure these things are taken care of, remember that the hair papilla, where the hair begins, is nourished by blood vessels, so concentrate on a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you are getting the essential nutrients required by your body and promote good circulation with regular exercise and scalp massage.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

Really all you can do is wash it every night and keep it healthy and clean.Don't use cheap conditoner or shampoo that just distroys your hair.Plus TRY and keep it in a tight pony tail if you can because when it pulls your hair it pulls your skin giving the brain more room for faster blood flow.Check it.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

I use Hair Beauty Plus...but be careful...it also makes your hair thicker. I have ridiculously thin hair so it's okay for me, but if you don't want your hair getting any thicker, don't use this stuff.

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

Being a woman of color myself %26amp; having natural shoulder length hair, I find that washing my hair once a week with a deep conditoner treatment to follow works well. Also lubracatig your scalp twice a week with a herbal ointment. Because our hair is prone to being dry and brittle be sure to cover your hair prior to going to bed with a silk wrap or bonnet, to reduce breakage at night due to friction caused while sleeping...No hon the Marsha Brady thing just doesn't cut it for us to much agitated pulling and tugging

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

If I were you I wouldn't brush it at all, especially if its in its natural state, it can cause breakage. The main thing is to keep it moisturized. Not with petroleum based or mineral oil based products. Try things like Profectives lotions and water based creams, and hair oil on wet hair. Keep it clean by washing it every other day, like every three days, condition it frequently, comb and detangle with a wide toothed comb. About a year ago my hair wasn't even a full two inches long, now its almost to the middle of my back. I spray it every other night with a leave in conditioner, my favorite is 911, and I take vitamins specifically for hair skin and nails, I also take biotin, vitamin e and c... I use sulfate free shampoos and I'm in love with a conditioner called Paves Un-Damaged Goods deep repairing conditioning milk. I also am addicted to this reconstructor by soft sheen. In my growing out phase I wore wigs under a satin cap to minimize styling and stress on hair, it kept it from breaking off... I also wear a fitted cap at night to keep my hair from rubbing against pillows and becoming dry and breaking off..

What are some good products and techniques to get my hair to grow?

Try Lush New Shampoo Bar, it stimulates hair growth and I am happy with the results: http://beauty-tricks.com/index.php?optio...

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

I am an african american! I been wanting to dye my hair red red for a long time but just dont know how to do it! What is my first step? What items do I need to purchase?

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

im not sure about african american hair i dye my hair all the time but im white so if i were you i would go to a salon and have it done

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

You need to go to a salon. Not only will this be hard to do at home, but red does not like to stay in hair for very long (it fades very quickly). Hairdressers will have the good products that keep color in longer, and will also know the best techniques to prevent as much damage to your hair as possible.

Does anyone here knows how to dye hair?

To color your are at home this just isn't possible to achieve a red red color. Your hair needs to be pre-softened. Which means a couple of shades of your natural hair color need to be removed before applying the red red color. This is best left to the professionals. Yes it can be done at home, but the end result may not be what you really want. It can have blotching or just an outrages color. Reds are difficult enough to get in and keep in all hair types, not just in African American hair. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a lot of heartache. Go to a salon.

Has anyone ever used or heard of a product called the Hair Bodiphier System from Fresh Look Products

I'm african american and I've been wearing my hair natural since last November. My hair is really thick and healthy now and I want to wear it straight again but, I don't want to go back to chemical relaxers. I was thinking about pressing my hair but then I saw this product and I just wanted to know if anyone knows about it and if it's any good or too good to be true. Thanks.........

Has anyone ever used or heard of a product called the Hair Bodiphier System from Fresh Look Products?

i really works if u try it let me know how u like it. i love it

How soon can I dye my after using feria hair color medium golden brown if the color did not take?

I am an african american woman and I have dark brown hair. I used Feria medium golden brown dye on my hair and did not achieve the results I wanted ( a reddish brown hue like on the box) How soon can I try dying it again and should I use a lighter color?

How soon can I dye my after using feria hair color medium golden brown if the color did not take?

You risk really drying your hair out and causing damage. If you have your hair straightened than you should not color it again. However, if no relaxer than take a strand of hair and hold it between your thumb and forefinger and thumb and pull, if it breaks easily than don't re-color. If it stretches to at least twice its lenght than consider lightening. However, you will need a lighter color. Because your hair is naturally so dark, it will be difficult to get a red very vibrant without really lightening it. Good luck:)

How soon can I dye my after using feria hair color medium golden brown if the color did not take?

4 weeks, any sooner and you WILL dry and damage your hair

What is this controversy?

i'm black and i really don't mean to sound racist but what is the controversey over nappy usually african american hair and wet curly hair usually hispanic hair. me personally i have neither. but why do so many blacks want that look. in my school people usually compliment the kids with good hair and envy them. i'm one of them but frankly i like girls with thick hair because they have or they look like they have a full head of hair.

What is this controversy?

its interesting..might have to do with just racism within a race. if u dont look a certain way, you're not the same type. i dont agree, but its probably what most people think.

What is this controversy?

i dont know why ppl are so stupid either

i mean i have thick hair and i think its pretty awesome but i think watever hair you got doesnt really matter its what you can do with it

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black h

HI! I checked the archives for advice but all of them are for people who don't have my hair color or texture. I am an african american/black woman with naturally curly (kinky) black hair.

I dyed my hair "honey blonde" but it turned out to be "Ronald McDonald orange." From what I can tell from other responses, it might be good to use an ash-based demi-permanent color to fix this mess, but I don't know:

1) Does it make a difference whether I use "blond ash" or "lightest blond ash,"

2) How do I make sure I apply it evenly -- my hair is so frickin curly that I'm bound to miss something if I just apply it straight.

3) I'm just assuming that an ash demi-permanent color is the answer -- is there some other advice for black hair??

Please help!!!

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

i think you have to wash it with a clarifying shampoo. then with a baking soda. i forgot the brand, but the mag suggests that it will faden the color.

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

show us some photos first ...........ronald...rofl

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

I am biracial *black and white* and I kinda know wut you are saying. I would go to a hair salon to fix the problem. That costs money I know but you need to have someone fix your hair. Otherwise you might damage it more. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

Well it depens on the color u were befor u colored it! U might want to go to a salon!!!! but u could bye a dark color to cover up the orange! But a blue base color will get rid of the orange!

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

I would go to a well respected stylist... Color Correction is such a hard thing to do yourself, and the colors you buy from Sally's and other stores, are premixed and usually don't even tell what base it is... You never know what your going to get...Also, the color it shows on the box only turns out that color when you apply it on white or pale blonde hair....Save you hair more damage by going to someone who has experience with this kind of mess... It will be a little more expensive, but well worth it in the end...

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

Sounds like you didn't leave the dye on long enough. Pulled most of the color out, but didn't get the honey blonde. Get to a salon asap. They have the miracle stuff to pull out what you used, and then can dye your hair back to your natural color. My advise is to leave it alone and let it get healthy after that. Too many applications can damage your hair and make it fall out. Crurly afro american hair breaks easily anyway.

Try that shiny thick oil smoother on your hair. (like Citre Shine) It should take your curls and make them soft an beautiful. It will soften your curls and friz and with a headband you'll have a crips and clean doo.

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

well... for black coloured hair or dark brown... i dont think ur supposed to really dye it blonde out of the box!

it should say it on the box!!!!!

sometimes the blonde will come out orange... or yellow... or in this case red because it needs to be bleached.

i have dark brown hair and i put in honey blonde highlights... but they came out yellow! ... not blonde... or honey blonde for that matter!

BUT! i would go to the salon and get it fixed!

in the meantime... washing ur hair will help the loose some of the chemicals in there still!

Need professional hair color advice: how to correct home coloring gone bad - curly afro-amer/black hair?

First of all, I understand you said that your hair is kinky, so I am going to assume that you have not attempted to relax your hair prior to the coloring. If you hair is relaxed, I would not suggest you try to go any lighter. Next, typically using a box color on VIRGIN hair (not relaxed, permed, or previously colored) is only capable of lightening about 2 shades (unless you use a high lift color, in which case you could get 3-4 shades lighter.) So if your hair is darkest brown to black, what you have ultimately done is just exposed the underlying pigment in your hair and no extra processing time would have made the result any different. Ethnic hair is very tricky because it is much more delicate than other hair types. I would not recommend you attempt to correct this on your own. In answer to the question, an ash base will neutralize, to a small extent, the amount of red/orange tones, but probably not enough. Your hair should have been lightened with a bleach product as opposed to a box color. However, it will be extremely difficult and dangerous to try and get black hair to any shade of blonde due to the amount of processing time it would take to get to that point. By the time it is blonde, it will likely be on the floor. In conclusion, the best thing for you to do is to go to a salon to get your hair to a color that is tolerable. Once you have grown out your hair and it is completely virgin, you can try again, but have it done by a professional.

TIGI S-Factor products? Blow-dry or flat iron? HELP!!!?

I'm planning on purchasing one of two products: TIGI S-Factor Seriously Straight (claims to straighten out kinks/curls/waves while protecting from heat and is meant for blow-drying wet hair) or TIGI S-Factor Heat Defender Flat Iron Spray (claims to be heat-protective and is meant for both wet or dry hair).

My African-American hair is relaxed and so is my mom's. I haven't tried to style mine straight in quite a while but she does hers about once a week and she doesn't do any blow-drying at all. I'm looking to do one OR the other (my blow-dryer is the version of the Conair Hair Designer for short hair - it works well, but sometimes I find the need to flat-iron a few sections here and there) in the morning as well, once or twice a week as she does.

Can someone please provide some advice on which of these products to use (if you've tried either one them) and what types of products to use before/after styling? I like to wear my hair straight but with a little bit of bouncy volume too.

TIGI S-Factor products? Blow-dry or flat iron? HELP!!!?

i would try a flat-iron they seem to do better in african-american hair and plus they do a better job straightening

Can someone recommend a product for Bi-Racial hair???

My daughter is 10yrs old, she is bi-racial (african-american/caucasian), she has very soft curly hair, but it always frizzes out soooo....bad that she can hardly ever wear it down. She is tired of wearing a pony tail everyday. Her hair isn't strong enough to handle a relaxer. I have tried nurmerous products that don't do the trick???? Any suggestions?

Can someone recommend a product for Bi-Racial hair???

I use Herbal Essence None of Your Frizzness leave in conditioner, and it works miracles! I also oil my daughter's scalp with carrot oil, but if your daughter does not have dry hair/scalp you may not need to do this. What are you trying to do to her hair? Straighten it or wear it curly, and how curly is it? Biracial hair can be close to Caucasian or kinky so if I knew more I could help you more. My daughter is not biracial (mostly black) but has curly (not kinky) hair too. Also there are mild relaxers if you want to straighten her hair. I use Motions mild relaxer on my hair when I grow it long. A black hair care salon can help you if your child's hair is closer to black hair texture.

Can someone recommend a product for Bi-Racial hair???

pomade... there are tons of them out there, all different consistencies, greasiness, smells... you'll have to find the one you like. i use murray's, it's kinda stinky, cheaply priced, but it really takes care of the frizz. just scoop some out, maybe the size of a dime, rub it in your hands together quickly to heat it up, work thru clean, dry hair, paying close attention to the ends. should do the trick

Can someone recommend a product for Bi-Racial hair???

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo/Conditioner.

(It costs $5.99) Comb her hair when it's wet, after you condition it. Make sure you get all the tangles out.

You can also use leave-in conditioner from a spray bottle (Aussie makes one that target sells for $3.14.) and spray it on when her hair is starting to frizz.

Nature Made makes a conditioner that smells like lavender and her hair will smell like perfume. It's the brown one (the conditioner, not the bottle). It costs around $6.75-$8.00, depending on where you buy it.

What is permanent straightening?

I just have a few questions about this process of straightening hair.

1.How well does it work for african american hair?

2. What do you do when you get new growth?

3. How long does it last?

4. Where do you go to get it done? How do you find a place in your town who does it?

5. Are you able to curl your hair and style it different from the regular straight?

6. Will it get back straight after you wash it if you have naturally coarse thick hair?

7. What is the range in price for coarse thick hair?

8. what are the chemicals used in ths process? are any of them bad enough to strip your hair of it's natural nutrients like a perm or relaxer or coloring? (because that's what I am trying to avoid)

What is permanent straightening?

Permanent straightening IS a relaxer.

1. It works very well on African American hair. There are a few degrees of strength and your stylist will decide which one is best for your hair.

2. The new growth will not grow in straight, you will have to have it touched up.

3. Your hair will remain straight. The relaxer won't fade out.

4. The best way to find a salon that does it is to open the phone book and call around. If there is a JCPenney salon near you, I would suggest going there.

5. Yes, you can style your hair anyway you like.

6. It will remain straight after you wash it.

7. You can expect $50-150 depending on where you go.

8. I believe ammonium thioglycolate is the chemical used. No chemical is good for your hair but assuming that your hair is in good condition now you should be fine. However, you probably won't be able to bleach your hair afterwards. Color should be fine though.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

Here's why i need to know i've got 5 questions to ask.

1. Does it work for (African American) hair?

2. If it does work for (african American) hair does it work?

3. Do all the shampoo and conditioner's smell good?

4. Do you use It?

and last of all

5. What does coarse mean.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

I use it and it works on African American hair I believe

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

I just have to say this from a white girls hair point, smells great, yes have used it but does not work on my hair, gets very tuggy. Even my five year can't use it, but the smell is addictive and even tho, I know it doesn't work, I will still buy it once in a while. Course means thin hair.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

I don't think #2 makes sense.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

It doesn't do much for my hair. It smells great but it makes my hair really oily.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

coarse means rough, dry, etc.

P.S. i call my husband LORD KIDINGTON! He's a hunk of kitty fur! Buuuuuahhhhhhahahahahahahahaha!

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

1. No, it makes your hair dry. Smells nice, but its dry

2. See the previous answer

3. They do, but again, not right for African American hair

4. No, I use Pantene for women of color-relaxed or natural

5. Coarse means that when you do get a relaxer, a regular strength one won't "take" as well as super.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

Herbal essence shampoo has alot of harsh chemicals in it. I would invest in some salon shampoos that have more natural ingredients

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

Well, i can't answer the first couple, although i know that a few of my friends use it and they have african american hair..and their hair looks gorgeous if i do say so myself =).

I personally don't use it, but that's only because my hair and scalp are really sensitive and i find it irritates it. (but that's just me and my hair issues :D).

But yes, i have used them before in the past and they do all smell oh so nice (although obviously it's down to your opinion.)

And coarse in reference to hair would mean like rough/ heavy hair, e.g frizzy, split ends etc.

Regualr terms, it just means rough =)

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

I'm white but I presume it's pretty much the same... i have straight hair, my friend has curly hair and it works on both.

I love it, it makes my hair smell delicious, a couple of the lavender and chamomile ones smell a bit weird but most of them smell delicious.

I use it everyday, both the shampoo and conditioner and have used all different smells to the same effect

Coarse means rough to the touch.

Hope this helps!

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

1. it works for my whitegirl hair. lol.

2.same as above

3. yes!

4. yes. i love it.

5. the texture of hair. (for instance african americans have coarser hair than most white girls)

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

no i dont like it it over drys my hair.. They all smell good because all of the their lines contain fragrances.. the reason why they have the fragrance is to attract the attention of the consumer.. not really because the product is good... Coarse means for hair that is rough and thick... I suggest you use a different shampoo and conditioner.. I have coarse and frizzy and curly curly curly curly hair... maybe you should try out Redken's all soft shampoo and conditioner or biolage (by matrix) shampoo and conditioner.. or something that is moisturizing and smoothing.. even if you dont want to spend that kind of money... you can use pantene pro-v or l'oreal vive pro; look for the shampoos that are smoothing and the conditioners that are moisturizing (yes you can mix different ones) they will work well in your hair also.. Good luck

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

1. Doesn't work on my (mixed) hair type

2. It dries out hair, leaves it frizzier

3. Smell excellent - but that's not a reason to dry out your hair, is it? I think they've got a line of bodywashes, I'd suggest that instead.

4. I tried using it, it made my hair frizzy, I got ridiculously terrible split ends, running fingers through my hair meant breakage and felt like a wirebrush (only a slight exaggeration), I couldn't manage.

5. Coarse... is what your hair will be, using herbal essence! (haha) - No, seriously. Coarse means rough hair, that doesn't take well to treatments, needs extra time, to get the same effects... I call mine "stubborn". :)

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

I think they are great. I use them all the time because they smell soooooo nice. I am not sure whether it will work for your hair because i dont have african american hair. You can buy it for dry hair or for all hair types so it will be fine.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

1. yes fuh sho. A-A hair is just like anyother hair just needs more moisture!

2. uhh yeahh for sho! it makes my hair so soft and detangled!

3. I hate the shampoos love the conditioners. Especially Hello Hydration, Break's Over, and Color Me Happy. I use the shampoos as body was.

4. see above lol

5. coarse means hard. You can tell if ur hair is coarse if u can touch it and it makes a krinkly sound lol a lot of AA ppl have coarse hair. I personally have mediumly coarse hair VERY tightly curled.

What do you think about Herbalessences shampoo's and conditioner's?

should work OK for all ethnic groups, hair is hair , they smell good, no, I do not use this product, the opposite of fine

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

im a light skinned african american and i have naturally sandy red hair, but i just put a temporary black dye in my hair, i know when i go back to school people are going to criticize me with black hair. I dyed my hair once before jet black and people said i was too light to dye my hair black.

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

If you like how it looks then go for it. I know white people who are really pale and look good with jet black hair. I think if you dyed your hair bleach blonde it would look kinda funky. But black or even like a really dark brown wouldn't look "witch"-like. Anyways, just do what you want!

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

tell sam s nobody was talkin about white people. i think they say you might look like a witch because everyone looks best with their natural haircolor. I dnt think that kind of hair is that good with light skins Report It

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

uhh

they prolly say that, because it looks like a witch

but maybe theyre all possessed

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

its because those people dont no ****.

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

some people look great others look weirder

whatever you like

for example dita von teese

black hair %26amp; extremely white

but she looks great

and you probably did too =]

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

why do people tell you what to do. and more importantly, why do u listen?

How can u be "too light" ?

Asians have black hair, white people have black hair, indian people have black hair. But u, a black person cant have black hair. hmmm, im baffled.

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

well white people dont look like witches when they do it so idk why anyone would tell you that. that is silly. depending on your hair type, sometimes black hair die makes the hair look greasy. but honestly, i think black hair looks fine.

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

if your in high school...kids will criticize you no matter what.

who cares what other people think. if your concerned with what other people think then maybe you should trust them and do what they say.

If it looks good to you, then do it! Show the confidence off.. :)))

and that's just the way our society is!!! they will judge and criticize you no matter what you do. It's so stupid but it happens every day.

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

lol. im asian, and a lot of people mistake me for half black. i have jet black hair and everyone loves it. well they liked the orange and blonde i had in it too. it depends on your confidence. i've seen people with ugly black hair before lol. if you know people gonna make fun of you and you become aware of it, that's when it gets bad. but you know what, if it looked good, people still gonna hate. regardless, people always gonna hate, and always gonna have something to say.. people talked about jesus, the most perfect man in the world. so dont let it bother you. if you like it then rock it!

but, seeing you're not that confident about it, maybe you need some pizzazz to it to make it less.. stiff. that's all you want anyway, that's why you're having doubts about it. just get a dramatic cut, or do a simple crown dye. that's where you take a square part at the top of your head, the same size you'd use for a hump, and dye it blonde or orange. i think orange would look good against your skin, if your hair use to be sandy red. you have an yellowish orange tone to your skin don't you? it'd be sexy. then nobody could tell you nothin =) but if you have a sand tan tone, use blonde.

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

well, witches are usually pictured as light skinned with black hair.

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

dont care about people honey they talk and talk they will never stop just do what you want and ithink black hair will lokk beautiful on you with some dark red pieces you will look smashing

Why do people think that light skinned people look like witches with black hair?????????????

My skin got so light and my hair so dark I was told daily that I looked like Wednesday from the "Adams Family" lol

Does Biotin really help your hair grow ?

I'm an african american female, 18 years old and my hair is under a lot of stress! It all started 2 years ago when I started taking birth control (deprovera), my hair was coming out left and right and on top of that, i have a really bad habit of pulling my hair out from the follicle strand by strand under stress. i have no idea what got me to start doing this but i'm really trying to stop. i started 2 years ago and i'll stop for some period of time and start back up again! i recently purchased dr. miracles but i hate the greasy build up, i usually don't even use grease on my hair because my hair is full of volume and body when i don't use it and i love the look. but i would like my hair to grow! i recently purchased biotin.. i've been taking it for 2 weeks now. anyone experience some actual results from this? does anyone have the problem of pulling out hair? any suggestions with that? HELP!

Does Biotin really help your hair grow ?

Hi,

I decided to go natural about two years ago so to help my hair grow after I chopped it all off, I used Ultra Hair by Nature's Plus. In addition to the biotin, it's got tons of other vitamins. Everyone's hair is different, but when my hair is straight, it is shoulder-length and I really believe this is because of the Ultra Hair. I hope this helps. You can find it at the Vitamin Shoppe - http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/br...

Does Biotin really help your hair grow ?

Biotin does work for hair and nails. I give it to my horses so their hooves stay hard. Also try unflavored gelatin, one packet a day...it's pure protein and that's what your body needs to grow hair and nails. Good Luck!

Does Biotin really help your hair grow ?

I had the same problem 3 years ago and i start taking biotin and it works .You can also add 2 pills in your shampoo

cracket it before like almost powder 2 weekends later you can start used .

Does Biotin really help your hair grow ?

Does Biotin really help your hair grow ?

it's healthy for you hair, nails and skin but when it comes to hair it mainly thickens. You'll first notice the effects in your nails, then hair.

Get off Depo, side effects of that include hair loss

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

Okay I love my hair, but it seems like everything in "african american" hair care products contain "pertolum" and "mineral oil"

( even Pantene Pro-V, women of color hair care system contains Petrolem and Mineral oil) Which I heard these ingredients are bad for "our" type of hair...the media doesnt understand our hair care...anyways I'm not rich but I do want to put some kind of oil in my hair, any suggestions?

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

olive oil is the best u could ever get

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

wekll thank you everyone who gave me good advice and screw the peopel who took my hair as a joke. I love my hair!!!! dont hate appriciate Report It

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

works great!

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

If your hair dosen't product oil then you need these products if it does then you are just hurting your hair. Try simple washing and rinsing and use some normal shampoo.

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

i use body oil like nuetrogena. my sister uses vaseline.

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

petroleum is just Vaseline..fine for your hair.

Get a good leave in conditioner for dry hair.

Olive oil may make it smell, I don't even like coconut oil because of the smell.

Just make sure there is no alcohol in anything. That dries out your hair.

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

I use olive oil and almond oil. I also use coconut oil. They are natural ingredients. You may find them at any Indian or Pakistani store. You may also find them in small stores such as Aldi or Food Basics

They are also avaie in Farmer Jack and Kroger.

All of these stores can be found in the US which im assuming is where you live.

But even if you dont they are very common evrywhere around the world

They usually work on all hair types and do not do any damage to most peoples hair

Which is better? Olive oil? or this product?

use corn oil....works great...makes it shinny, oily and when ur hungry you can just take a piece of bread and rub it against ur head and eat it.

How do you know when your hair is growing?

I am African American and sometimes I feel like my hair will never get past a certain length. The longest my hair ever grew was to the top of my shoulders. I have a breakage problem and I'm not sure what is causing it. Please help me!!!!!

How do you know when your hair is growing?

You can't actually.see it growing but you can see the difference. Most hairs have a life expectancy of three to six years and On an average, hair grows at the rate of 6 inches annually. The secret formula for hair growth is to see that hair remains healthy. Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c... for more details.

How do you know when your hair is growing?

When your roots start to show. LOL But seriously, hair does grow only to a certain length. Then, it stops. When I was younger my hair was almost down to my waist. Now 20 years later, my hair stopped growing between my shoulders and my waist. Weird, isn't it.

What Race Am I lol?

ok my mom is african american mixed with white and a indian but my dad is mexican/hispanic and his mom is from purto rico i look hispanic with light brown skin but i have african american hair aka nappy hair lol what does that make me????

What Race Am I lol?

You are a human being.

Why do you bother so much about racial classification?

What Race Am I lol?

You are considered a mixed race lol, which alot of people find attractive and badass.

What Race Am I lol?

blaxican..lol

What Race Am I lol?

If your mother's white heritage is European, She is Natirah (African/European/Native American). Your father is Latin. I'll assume your mother is half black and a quarter NA and white, otherwise she's not enough of white and NA to count so it doesn't matter. You're half Natirah and half Latin. If your father was European/Native American or African, you would be considered only Natirah.

What Race Am I lol?

Tell people you are Hindilun. Sure it's not real but I bet some people pretend they've heard of it....They might even have a Hindilun friend.

What Race Am I lol?

You're African American, white, Indian, and Hispanic. lol

What Race Am I lol?

You are a proud member of the *human* race.

What Race Am I lol?

an angloize afrihispaniindiani in other words your hair is nappy because you have a snappy pappy, and your skin is light brown because your mom and dad,s dad and mom,and theirs have been around, they stepped out of the town, and moved to the city, there they got together with whoever was handsome and pretty, they mixed alittle here and there, and there you go, you got light brown skin and nappy hair, so what does that make you, a person i guess, on the square

What Race Am I lol?

I would say you're of the "human race!"

What Race Am I lol?

1/5 black 1/5 white 1/5 indian 1/5 mexican 1/5 puerto rico

What Race Am I lol?

The terms multiracial and mixed-race describe people who are not easily classified into a single race.

Multiracial also describes a society or group that is composed of people from more than one racial or ethnic group.

According to Michael Levin, most people can be clearly identified as belonging to one race or another, meaning that most people can trace at least 75% of their ancestors to the same geographic region associated with a major racial group. However Levin insists that anyone with fewer than 75% of their ancestors originating from the same broad geographic region should be considered multiracial:

Hybrid populations with multiple lines of descent are to be characterized in just those terms: as of multiple descent. Thus, American Negroids are individuals most of whose ancestors from 15 to 5000 generations ago were sub- Saharan African. Specifying 'most' more precisely in a way that captures ordinary usage may not be possible. '%26gt; 50%' seems too low a threshold; my sense is that ordinary attributions of race begin to stabilize at 75%. An individual, half of whose ancestors are East Asian and half Caucasian, is to be categorized as just that, of half northeast Asian and half Caucasian ancestry. Nothing in continental cladistics precludes mixed ancestry, any more than the concept of a breed of dog excludes mixtures.

Meanwhile the company DNAPrint Genomics analyzes DNA to determine the exact percentage of Indo-European, sub-Saharan, East Asian, and Native American heritage someone has and assigns the to the categories White, Black, East Asian, Native American, or mixed race accordingly. According to U.S. sociologist Troy Duster and ethicist Pilar Ossorio:

Some percentage of people who look white will possess genetic markers indicating that a significant majority of their recent ancestors were African. Some percentage of people who look black will possess genetic markers indicating the majority of their recent ancestors were European.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiracial

What Race Am I lol?

You're mixed. Btw Hispanic isn't a race, it's just an ethnicity. There are white, black and even Asian Hispanics.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

I don't know much about these people, but I have seen them a couple of times on movies and TV. Aren't all of them African American? So, how come they don't have the african type of hair? They all have regular hair like most people in this world. I am interested to know. Please don't think I am racist or anything. I just want to know.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

Because it is weave (sewn in fake hair) sorta like extensions and they get perms witch for black people makes the hair straight and more manageable. And j-lo is not black she is Latina.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

yeah but also everyone has different hair types so you never know if it it a weave or not just dont sterotype us, not all black people wear weaves, its natural for some of us Report It

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

it's called some one else is doing there hair every day

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

They all get extensions.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

Hair weave and they wear wigs and perms

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

Four non-white women trying to look white? Yeah, I wonder why too.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

J LO IS HISPANIC SHE IS FROM BRONCO CUZ THEY HAVE MAKE UP AND HAIR PEEPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... IK SOME AFRICAN AMERICAN PEEPS WITH REG HAIR

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

J.Lo is Latin, but yes the other 3 are black. I don't know if they have naturally straight hair, but if they don't, then they use styling products to achieve straight hair. plus, they pay their hair stylists big bucks.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

Beyonce, Ashanti, and Queen Latifah most likely have weaves or extensions.

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

weave my friend, they use expensive weave,

its actually called netting weave

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

J.Lo is not black, she is puerto rican. Ashanti is bi-racial. Queen Latifah wears extensions and hair pieces. Beyonce' wears hair pieces, front laced wigs,

How come Beyonce, J.Lo, Ashanti and Queen Latifah have regular hair?

Not every black person has the exact same type of hair. Yes, some women wear weaves, but many black women have healthy hair that is 100% their own.

Some African American women have naturally straight hair, while others will either relax their hair (which does the opposite of a perm) or use heat to and other methods to wear their hair in straight styles.

Yes, you may have seen many black women with especially curly hair, but just as white women have varying types of hair and different methods to achieve certain styles, black woman do as well.

Straightening our hair gives us the chance to wear a larger array of styles, but be aware that not every black woman is born with the exact same type of hair, just as is true of woman of other races. And no, not every black woman you see with long, straight hair is wearing a weave nor does it mean she must be mixed - yes there are some that fall into that category, but race alone does not dictate what one can do with their hair.

I hope this helps you. :)

Ever use Roux Professional FERMODYL Hair Treatment #233 for double processed hair?

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

Ok my wife and i are torn. We are both black but still are not sure about dealing with our daughters hair. I have no sisters and my mom is Puerto rican with straight hair and can't advise. My mother in law is half native american with wavy hair. My wife's hiar is i guess what you would cal typical african american hair. My dauther has curls almost shirley temple like especailly when wet. Do we start oiling or using oil mositureizer now on her hair she is 13 months. Or do we keep just washing it and using the detangler to comb it.

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

Use a detangling spray and conditioner. make sure to leave the conditioner on for at least 30 minutes then wash. I have the same problem, watch out when she get old her hair is going to get BIG. lol. The best way to do that is when she get older you can start getting foam curlers and curl her hair at nice. The bigger the better. Using mouse is an easy way to keep hair straight without freezing it.

Good luck! Take her to a black stylist whens he gets older, they can help.

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

Definitely check out Carol's Daughter. www.carolsdaughter.com. Her products are absolutely the best! (She's endorsed by Mary J and Jada Pinkett Smith) Nuff' said =0)

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

Wouldn't "No Tears" or something for infants be good?

I heard virgin coconut oil is meant to be very good.

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

Afro-sheen.

Works like a charm. Esp if you can really soak it in and leave it on the little tykes nappies...

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

You can stick with your current routine until her hair starts to change (longer, thicker, harder to handle).

At that point I would add a little more steps to your current routine:

After washing, use a leave in conditioner. We use the Generic brand of the Paul Mitchell leave in conditioner.

When dry, you could try Mizani's Rose H2O Conditioning Hairdress. I use it for my daughter and I am very pleased with it. Usually available at salons only...you can get it from Regis.

I've also tried Baby Love and Soft Sheen, but I love the Mizani the best!

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

As a African American teenage it is best to use products such as Oil moisturizer by pink luster and keep on washing and detanglering it and combing it .Try you best to keep her natural hair type. Avoid perms and do not cut her hair .You might want to try braids it cute and long lasting for a child. If you do try braid be gently on her edges.

What is the best black haircare for little girls..?

okay heres what i reccomend:

What can i use to wash and conditon my hair so it won't dry out and remain soft all day???

I am a mixed african american male. I have naturally spiral curly hair thick in texture. I've tried many different products but nothing works .... if it does work it only works once or twice then my hair gets use to it and rejects it. Due to the nature of my hair i have to wash my hair almost everyday. This causes my scalp to be very dry. What are my options?

What can i use to wash and conditon my hair so it won't dry out and remain soft all day???

I really do not know but my best knowledege is to go to a salon and ask them what is the best product for your hair I am sorry that I am not much help for you but good luck

What can i use to wash and conditon my hair so it won't dry out and remain soft all day???

Ojon - it is an all natural hair product line that was developed by natives in central america - any nationality (race) or hair type can use it - you can get more details from sephora.com in the hair care section - I love it (I'm Mexican-American and have very thick, wavy, but dry hair and dry scalp). Good luck!

What can i use to wash and conditon my hair so it won't dry out and remain soft all day???

use any pantene shampoo and conditioner. it will help i promise

What can i use to wash and conditon my hair so it won't dry out and remain soft all day???

Mayo...My mom use to wash our hair in mayo...and it really works ..something about the oils in it.

What can i use to wash and conditon my hair so it won't dry out and remain soft all day???

I use Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner (for women of color) and then I use Motions Ultra Conditioner (purple and gold bottle). You have to let the Motions conditioner sit for about 15-20 min. and then rinse it off. But these 2 products work wonders on my hair as I am also a mixed woman. You can get all of them for no more than $12 for all 3. Good luck!

I`m am trying to grow my hair under a sew-in weave. any tips?product suggestions?

i am african-american and i had to cut my hair because it was seriously damaged. I now have a sew-in weave and i`m wondering how i can make sure how i can make my hair underneath long and healthy. Also my hair feels tight, is there any way i can ease the feeling on the edges?

I`m am trying to grow my hair under a sew-in weave. any tips?product suggestions?

do you have a relaxer? use this time to start growing it out. if you take this particular weave out, make sure you get your ends trimmed prior to putting another one in.

go to GNC (or a GNC type store) and purchase some hair nail and skin vitamins. the are great. biotin (a form of vitamin b) is the vitamin that is great for hair. find a good vitamin and take it daily while you have your weave.

as far as it being tight...it will loosen up after a couple of days :) if this is your first weave, you will soon love if you can handle it. i can keep mine for months, but others can only last a few weeks. it's very important to have a very good wash with a weave. my salon uses Sea Breeze to get between the braids and freshen them up. I love it. But you will need some type of oil b/c it will also dry out your scalp.

Good luck!

All My Hair?

First off think of an african american mixed with Black, white, indian, mexican, german.

Second of my hair used to be wavy and curly until my grandma put a relaxer on me (the kind that makes it straight) and so now i have hair of a regular african american and i want my old hair back.

what can i do to get it back because i can't put on a perm (the kind to make it curly).

and my hair is currently cut short but want to grow it back out long but how.

All My Hair?

Probably just take Lysine (A vitamin that helps hair growth) and give yourself scalp massages for about ten minutes a day (It promotes hair growth) and just wait... the hair relaxer should ware off eventually

That's all I can think of!!

All My Hair?

I feel the exact same way as you girl. I used to have beautiful, curly, thick hair then I messed it up with all these **** chemicals and relaxers! And now my hyairs falling out. I'd give anything to have my hair back the way it was before, the way God intended it to be... To all the ladies out there : Be grateful with what you've been given, don't go trying to change yourself, you'll probably never be happy if you do.

All My Hair?

Keep your hair in braids. Start with extension cornrows, and let it grow out naturally.

All My Hair?

Try this site for alot of helpful hints, tips and forums.

http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/default....

Your best bet is to leave the chemicals alone and go natural. Do lots of conditioning, take vitamins and really baby your hair. My secrets are sleeping in satin scarves and unless I am going out in public, I keep my hair tied up. And when I get tired of doing my hair (especially in the summer when its so easy to just wear a pony tail) I wear a lace wig. My hair is to the middle of my back and I am 100% african american as far as I know.

All My Hair?

grow your perm out then when your hair is all nappy press it then it will be back to normal

Which is better for your hair, a lye relaxer or the Phytospecific relaxer?

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

i want my hair to be a few inches longer by the time school comes around. i'm african-american. my mom and sister have longer hair than me and my grandmother. i just need to take better care of mine. what can i do?

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

dont cut it

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

Well before you do anything to your hair just to inform you your hair has certain cells that grow best when your body is sleeping. Things like hair and nail growth only occur when the body is at a resting state. So naturally one way to do it is to catch up on some sleep. As far as any other way it is hard to determine because genetics and current lifestyle may affect the growth of your hair. I hope I answered your question.

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

Give your hair a good oil massage preferably with olive oil. + eat food containing a lot of vitamin E. Once a week break %26amp; apply a Vitamin E capsule on your scalp.

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

for that u need 2 apply hair oil twice a weak (olive oil is good)

wash them properly and get proper trimming of hair done to make ur hair grow wid equal edges

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

If you are relaxed then don't get another relaxer until school starts. In the meantime protect your ends by moisturizing them and keeping them away from your shoulders so they won't snag or break off on anything (clothes, necklaces, etc.) this will help you retain length so when you do get a relaxer you won't have to cut your hair because of thin, split, see through ends. If you are natural make sure you keep your hair very moisturized and take care off your ends as well since they are the oldest part of the hair. No matter what hair type make sure you cut down on heat to prevent heat damage. There are a lot of styles that you can wear that require little t no heat. Make sure when washing your hair you have the right balance between protein (for strength and to prevent breakage) and moisture. I have a lot more tips so if you have any questions email me.

How can i grow my hair longer by September?

well for starters, take vitamin B12 for healthy hair growth, and cut ur ends every 4-6 weeks.

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

Ok you guys, I'm African American and 17 and alot of my friends only read Black Hair Magazines(African American Hair Styles). And me, I read Black Hair Mags and Seventeen Mag because I like the different articles and clothing well, pretty much everything lol. But my "So Called" friends believe I'm trying to be white.

That's not the case. I have lots of "True Friends" of different races. Should I just dump those so called friends of mine or what? I don't have any online friends.

Thanks

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

Yep, dump 'em all and find people who aren't stupid.

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

I personally think your friends are ignorant because the think you're "trying to be white " when you certainly can not act like a certain race, when everyone acts different. So yeah, tell what I said, and if they still say racial comments like that, then drop them and get new friends.

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

so they're insulting you and saying you're trying to be white? Why WOULDN'T you dump them? I don't know why you're wasting your time asking this question in fthe interent, you know that they're not good friends.

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

dump em

17 mag is filled with clothes, makeup and boy problems and hot celebs

and cupons so u wont go broke. i love their articles on how to take cair of ur skin and hair and makeup by race. its so cool

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

Well I'm an 18 year old African American who LOVES seventeen mag (and CosmoGirl). I think it's pretty ignorant of your friends to say that you're trying to "be white". My friends use to say the same thing until I had them actually read the articles and look at the cute clothes ya know. I don't think they were trying to be mean by saying that. Some people are closed-minded about things that they're not use to. There's not a black woman/girl on the cover of Seventeen every month so they're probably not going to pick it up. Don't shut your friends out b/c they think that way though. Girl, just continue to read your Seventeen and tell them to mind they business ya kno.

Happy reading hun.

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

You sound like a really great person! If they're that against seventeen then tell them that u like because ( what u said in the Q) and if that doesn't work then hang out with ur true friends.

Is Seventeen Mag a good magazine(Not Racial)?

tell them calmly that you like the clothing and stories in seventeen better than the ones in Black Hair Mag. They might just be teasing, so tell them to stop (politly with a calm voice). If they continue, start by siting at different table at lunch.

Black hair salons in southern california?

Hi, I just moved to southern california and I am an african american female who needs to get my hair done. Does anyone know of any salons out here. I am in the vista/san marcos area, so if you knew of any that were in that vicinity or close by it would be awesome. I am looking to get a great sew in weave. All answers would be appreciated!!! thanks

Black hair salons in southern california?

I go to JC Penney some times, but I can also do it myself.

Black hair salons in southern california?

You do not live in Southern California. You live in Northern California near San Diego.

Do you think i should do this style (i have a picture)?

http://a451.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...

OK, SO.

I wanna know if it's a good idea ( http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i18/do... ) and how to do it.

My hairs naturally kinda thin so i need to use a few hair products to make it atleast look normal. Also, it's not like most african american hair and has the texture of latino or caucasin hair so it moves freely and it's soft and stuff. :]

Will waves look good with me if i have hair that's maybe 4-5 inches past my shoulder in the back and 2-3 in the front (my hair's in a bun in that picture).

Also, will i look good with dark, dark brown hair?

This shade ( http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s302/... )

or this shade ( http://images.teamsugar.com/files/users/... )

If you don't like the colour OR style, suggest something. But keep in mind i'm trying to lean toward a preppier look, not a "scene" one.

Do you think i should do this style (i have a picture)?

yes i think it would look good and for your skin tone i would go with hillary duffs hair color. hope this helps :)

Do you think i should do this style (i have a picture)?

ur hairs too frizzy

Do you think i should do this style (i have a picture)?

donno give it a try

Do you think i should do this style (i have a picture)?

Maybe this site has the answer for you.

this site has a lot of articles about how to do it and list many celebrities pictures.

Do you think i should do this style (i have a picture)?

i think you'd look good with short hair and a long wavy do wouldnt suit you well, and i think hilary's hair color would be super nice on you.

Plan to relax my hair then get a weave but I hate the feel and itch of cornrows. Is bonding or fusio

I'm African American. The last time I relaxed my hair was about 10 to 15 years ago and it all fell out. I think partially because the guy who did it "forgot" i had virgin hair. since then the only thing i do is color it. I'm hoping this time will be better. Any suggestions?? I have wicked Tyra envy and i'm SO SICK of braids I've had them forever!!!

Plan to relax my hair then get a weave but I hate the feel and itch of cornrows. Is bonding or fusion better?

Well, bonding is the worst. That glue will take your hair out if you do it continuously and it does not last long. Fusion is a bit expensive and I heard that takes your hair out too, because when your hair is attached to that hair they use a special kind of glue and when its time to take that hair out it makes your hair break. I know sew in is itchy but it is the best option if yu want a weave that lasts for about a month.

Plan to relax my hair then get a weave but I hate the feel and itch of cornrows. Is bonding or fusion better?

as the first girl said bonding is worse.....i personally wouldnt relax my hair after that..... i know ur tired of braids but u can wear ur hair natural and have it out try using some of these products to help......blended beauty or curls or any of the others (read them first but i personally suggest the one mentioned) at naturallycurly.com........at least try this before u relax ur hair then u can go right ahead if ur not satisfied.....go to their personal webites if ur not convinced

What is a good conditioner?

I have african american hair. My hair is so dry because of this extreme heat. what creame or conditioner I can use to keep my hair moisture. Remember, african american hair lacks moisture, that is why we don't have to wash it every day.

What is a good conditioner?

I have African American Hair that is chemical free meaning I don't have a perm or color in my hair. I use Organic Root Stimulator Mayo Deep Conditioner. It moisturizes your hair and makes it very manageable.

I love sunsilk! Pantene is great too, and so is garnier.

What is a good conditioner?

I have chemically processed hair. Always dry. I use Aussie 3 minute miracle. I love it.

What is a good conditioner?

Well Pantene works well but it has floor wax in it to make your hair shin so much. There are plenty of things at the "swap meet" (the hair store) that you could use. I am using Aphogee and it is great. There is a deep conditioner that has a matching leave in spray. I have never found anything that keeps my hair more moisturized.

Only use heat when absolutely necessary and stay away from spritz and all other products containing alcohol! (They make your hair dryer!)

What is a good conditioner?

well i wash my hair once or twice a week and i use tresemme moisture rich and it really good and if you use heat as like i do i use tresemme moisture rich set and then then tresemme heat tamer it really dammm good trust me i use all there and i spray the heat tamer when my hair is towel dry./damp and then i let it air dry 95% throuhg and then i use a low blow dryer and then i flat iron all done nice and soft silky moist hair

i have african-american hair too and i use garnier fructis conditioner and leave-in conditioner for dry, frizzy, or unmanageable hair

What is a good conditioner?

Heavy Cream deep conditioner by Redkin is amazing!!! I have coarse hair and it totally makes my hair supersoft but not greasy or anything.

What is a good conditioner?

I'm trying to grow my hair it grows very fast about 2-3 inches a month but it keeps spliting ju

i am african american i am trying two grow my hair out after a bad salon experience my hair grows pretty fast it look thick and healthy but it wont stop splitting at the ends i keep it mositrized with olive oil and some leave in condtioner i even wear a silk night cap that always mangaes to fall off at night but it still splits and it's getting frustrating i never had this problem before when my hair was longer before salon experince about two years ago please help what products or treatment can i use to stop the splitting

I'm trying to grow my hair it grows very fast about 2-3 inches a month but it keeps spliting just as fast?

first, i'm white, and our two hair types are differnet, but i can say that a pair of silk pillow cases and sheets so you won't even have to wear a cap. i don't know where you live, but big lots has sheets for really really cheap. as for the hair splitting, i'd go to a salon you trust, and ask them about the products they carry, specifically for protecting hair from splitting. also, i think the shampoo brand sunsilk carries a line of product for splitting hair. i hope i hope you find a saln that you can be proud of!!

I'm trying to grow my hair it grows very fast about 2-3 inches a month but it keeps spliting just as fast?

You need to get it trimmed reguaraly. Try to find a salon a friend trusts and go to them to get ur hair fixed

I'm trying to grow my hair it grows very fast about 2-3 inches a month but it keeps spliting just as fast?

try special shampoo's and cut your split ends out

I'm trying to grow my hair it grows very fast about 2-3 inches a month but it keeps spliting just as fast?

you need to cut off all the split ends then use a hot oil treatment on your hair once a month you can use k-PAC on your hair 1 time a month have your hair cut every 6 weeks keep your hair moist it's to dry let your hair air dry once in awhile brush dry with a hair dryer don't use a curling iron all the time it makes your hair dry

I'm trying to grow my hair it grows very fast about 2-3 inches a month but it keeps spliting just as fast?

If your hair grows that fast it will be no problem to trim off a 1/2 a inch a month...getting all the damaged stuff cut off will help the most.... are you blowing it out? pressing it? The heat from the dryer and the irons will do the most damage....especially to the ends........ good luck.......

I'm trying to grow my hair it grows very fast about 2-3 inches a month but it keeps spliting just as fast?

You need to trim your hair. If you trim your hair it will be no big deal because your hair will break anyways so just do it the healthy way.

Has anyone used Sheamoisture shea butter shampoo?

I have all natural african american hair and i have been using pantene in my hair. I found out that the pantene makes it so dry and i switched to herbal essences. It's not as bad as the pantene but not any good either. So now i heard that shea moisture shea butter hair products are great with natural african american hair. I need to know if anyone has used that line of hair products before, and if yes, how is it?

Has anyone used Sheamoisture shea butter shampoo?

shea-moi- butta whaaaaaa?

never heard of it sry

Has anyone used Sheamoisture shea butter shampoo?

o my yes...i use it every time i wash my hair, which isn't that much. it is great because the shampoo is thick.

Has anyone used Sheamoisture shea butter shampoo?

if you use the herbal essence for condintioner, it will work very well because that what i use and mine works fine

Has anyone used Sheamoisture shea butter shampoo?

It works like heaven on me...

How to twist nappy hair?

I am an African american male with 2 inch long nappy hair, i would like to know how hair twists are done.

How to twist nappy hair?

Unless you know what you're doing, go to a salon to do this. I've done my brothers and all I do is part in small sections (so it'll look neat), then there are two different methods. The first is to split that piece into two sections and twist around each other until the end. The method I prefer to use on guys is to get a bit of gel and use a small tooth comb and twist the hair into a coil type. Turns out really good, but then again, you couldn't do your hair yourself, unless you know how. I like the little twists/coils!

How to twist nappy hair?

u need to do small sections, tiny since your curls are tight, and use beeswax

How to twist nappy hair?

with beeswax. its very thick and it holds the hair together. It depends on whteher or not you are trying to dread or twist. There is a difference. You may need to go to a salon that specializes in black hair, braiding and weaves. They twist and dread mens hair all the time.

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

People get mad at me when I say that Cornrows are a Black African Hairstyle. I don't know why they get mad. It's like they don't believe me. I hate cornrows on Asians and Whites. I think it looks funny and there hair is too straight for it.

Cornrows are a traditional style of hair grooming of African origin where the hair is tightly braided very close to the scalp, using an underhand, upward motion to produce a continuous, raised row. Cornrows can be formed, as the name implies, in simple, straight lines; or, in complicated geometric or curvilinear designs. Often favored for their easy maintenance, cornrows can be left in for weeks at a time simply by carefully washing the hair using a stocking cap or hair net and then regularly oiling the scalp and hair. Cornrowed hairstyles are often adorned with beads or cowry shells, in the African tradition. Depending on the region of the world, cornrows can be worn by either men or women.

A common way of styling hair in populations from sub-Saharan Africa, cornrows survived for centuries in the United States and other parts of the New World as a style of hair preparation among African slaves and their progeny. In 1963, when most African American women were loath to be seen in public with unstraightened hair, actress Cicely Tyson drew immediate notice when she sported cornrows on the popular network television series East Side/West Side. The style gained wide popularity in the United States in the late 1960s and 1970s as part of the Black is beautiful movement, when the trend was to reject straightening one's hair in favor of "natural" hairstyles. Afros, strands of hair twisted into tight coils or wound with twine, and the wearing of geles (in Yoruba, colorful, often elaborately wrapped head cloths) are among the commonplace African styles adopted by African American women.

Some cornrowed hairstyles can take hours to execute.

Some cornrowed hairstyles can take hours to execute.

In the wake of the Black Pride Movement, hundreds of beauty shops and salons sprang up across the United States delivering services exclusively, or as part of a range of options, to blacks who prefer natural (unstraightened) hairstyles. Many salons specialize in hair wrapping and braiding techniques, executing styles which can be exceedingly time-consuming and expensive. A single, braided style can take seven hours or more to complete, sometimes necessitating two or more salon visits. The tradeoff in the cost in time and money expended is that a well-executed, braided style can last a month or more without restyling, if properly groomed and cared for鈥攁nd if executed on the naturally coarse, tightly coiled hair typically possessed by people of Sub-Saharan African descent.

Cornrows also enjoyed some popularity among Caucasians after blonde actress Bo Derek wore beaded cornrows in the popular Blake Edwards movie 10, and became widely popular once again with the spread of hip-hop culture in the 1990s. Cornrow hairstyles are now often offered to tourists in resort areas of the Caribbean.

Cornrows are used by people of African ancestry in many different regions of the world. However, some controversy over them has emerged in Nigeria, where hair braiding among men is alleged to be a sign of femininity or homosexuality.[1]

Over the years, cornrows (along with dreadlocks) have been the subject of several disputes in the American workplace (see The Allen Iverson Movement). Some employers have deemed them unsuitable for the office and have banned them - especially at-will firings and/or termination. African American employees and civil rights groups have countered that such attitudes evidence racial and cultural bias. Some such disputes have resulted in litigation.

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

Ok, then black people should stop straightening their hair to look more like white and asian peoples hair...its a double standard...get over it.

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

sooooooooooo i guess you were venting...? i mean, who cares how people look with cornrows, it's not your head...and how do you know that white people like the STRAIGHT look on you?

i hope somebody finds a long explanation for the history of straight hair and posts it up here. and if your hair's not straight, then you did a bad job representing yourself with your avatar...

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

I have no opinion on cornrows, but if you're going to post an entire Wikipedia entry, shouldn't you at least give them credit?

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

hairstyles don't know race...and no one ever said a particular hairstyle belongs to a particular race...so i don't think it really matters

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

It鈥檚 true that cornrows come from Africa. However, I don鈥檛 know if I agree that some people can鈥檛 use the style or that they look bad with it. We can all share the cultures of others; I think this is a good thing.

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

thanx 4 the info and the 2 points!

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

So who didn't know that Cornrows/canerows are originally African? Who doesn't know that? And secondly why all that text? Who's going to read all of that?

You didn't really ask a question, this was more like a vent.

Proof that Cornrows are an African Hairstyle and not just a hairstyle that black america wears.?

and your point is..............

Which hair relaxer straightens hair the best? My relaxers aren't straigtening my hair anymore!?

I am an African-American woman with extremely wavy and coarse hair. I have been getting my hair relaxed ever since I was about 6 or 7. I am now almost 25. I have noticed that when I got pregnant with my first child, my hair stopped taking the relaxer. My hair has never been the same. It hardly gets straight at all. I would like to know, which relaxer is best for straigtening coarse hair ? ( I know that most relaxers have a coarse relaxer, but they don't seem to work) And is it possible for, over time, your hair to become immune to a relaxer?

Which hair relaxer straightens hair the best? My relaxers aren't straigtening my hair anymore!?

Dr.Miracle %26amp; Organics.

Which hair relaxer straightens hair the best? My relaxers aren't straigtening my hair anymore!?

i think dudley perms are really strong. also i dont know where you live but try going to a dominican hair salon, they tend to have super strength perms. my hair isn't that nappy and the perms those dominican used was so strong my scalp was raw for weeks, same thing with the dudley.

Which hair relaxer straightens hair the best? My relaxers aren't straigtening my hair anymore!?

No your hair does not become immuned to the chemical product. your hair is a dead appendage it will respond to the chemical product that you are using. however, you might be wanting it a little more straighter then what you are use to wearing it. Mazini makes a great straightener. Affirm does as well. I would also follow up with a ceramic chi iron. Chi has the new wet to dry that is a great tool to use.

Which hair relaxer straightens hair the best? My relaxers aren't straigtening my hair anymore!?

Try Motions super for course hair, I use it and it lasts for about 3 months. The jar looks like this : http://stores.beautysupply-bedandbath.co...
