How close to the african descent...?

Is this true?, The darker you are= The closer your are to your African descent, The Lighter you are=The further away from your african decent/the closer you are to whatever other heritage you have(Keep in mind we are talking about the 2 main features in people of the african descent, Skin, and Hair),Because i noticed, ive see Lightskinned african americans that have grown an afro, but theres are Wobble, weak, and dont stand as well as Darker skinned african americans who have grown afros which stay in place, and don't move when then wind blows or when they walk, Although i have seen that except backwards on certain rare occasians....

Here are the questions...Kinky hair + Dark skin=Close to african decsent? Straightish kinky hair+ light skin=Further away? Kinky hair + Light skin= This would mean what? Straightish Kinky hair + Dark skin= This would mean what?...

Is it possible to even tell how close you are to the african descent just by your features

How close to the african descent...?

no that is not true at all. actually there are alot of light skinned africans that live in africa and that are natives. I have seen dark skinned people with fine straight hair all over the place. in northern countries in africa, there are people who have more straight finer hair and slim noses, etc. U have to remember that there are all types of people that live in africa. especially Arabs. they live all over the place in sudan, south africa, algeria, morocco, egypt, and numerous of other places. And when it comes to hair, it comes in all types of textures no matter who you are. just becuz u have course hair does not mean that you are black or african. dominicans, cubans, puerto ricans, and other numerous of latin descent have course hair and they live on the other side of the world. In austrailia I have met people that have course, but curly hair and they were of caucasion descent not african. basically when it comes down to it it depends on your genes of your parents and not ur race.

How close to the african descent...?

no it's called genes. Black is black, you're ancestors were from Africa

How close to the african descent...?

if you ever watch national geographic, you will see that everyone in Africa is very dark.

How close to the african descent...?

Some Africans are dark, while some are lighter. Darker African-Americans probably have no or very little white ancestory, while lighter african-americans have white ancestory, whether it was in the 1600s, 1700s, 1800s, or 1900s. African-Americans have been getting lighter over the years because of racial intermxing. When they first got here, they were African, but over time, darker africans mixed with lighter africans, white people, and Native Americans

How close to the african descent...?

No it doesn't. Look at Seal's baby with Heidi Kloom. Their child is close to african descent but there is no way from telling just by looks.

How close to the african descent...?

Skin tone even varies in Africa

How close to the african descent...?

k I just took Anthropology at Lehigh. this topic can be tough to grasp, so bear with me:

your genetic skin tone is based purely on how close your ancestors were to the equator. Africa is a big place. There is a wide range of skin tones in Africa. North Africans are generally not even considered black, because their skin is only slightly darker than Spaniards'.

for this reason, blackness bears no connection to African descent. You could be the darkest person on Earth and not be African at all. likewsie, you can be very light, and still be a quarter African (if, say, you have one African grandparrent and three grandparents from Norway)

also, skin tone is dependent on how much sunlight you get yourself.

sure, there are other characteristics like brow ridges and such, but they're very unreliable with the large mixture of races in the world today.

social races are irrelevant. if you want to know how African you are, the only way to do so is to trace your descent.

So, finally, the answer to your question is NO.

How close to the african descent...?

Black is Black I don't think hair type and skin color matter

How close to the african descent...?

I concur with Croato87 who said it accurately and true.

How close to the african descent...?

No.

I've seen Sri Lankan people whose features are sharp like Aryans, but they're very dark.

How close to the african descent...?

Dark skin and kinky hair do not go hand in hand. There are light skinned Black Americans (meaning both their parents are Black) who have very kinky hair, and many dark skinned blacks with naturally loosely curled hair. It's a very popular misconception. It's like believing people with dark hair always have dark eyes and people with light hair always have light eyes. It's just not always true.

If you look at some African American families, you can often see a couple with 3 children who are three different shades of brown. I have a friend has a dark skinned father and an Italian/Irish mother, but she her brother are dark brown with dark brown eyes. I know African Americans who have 2 Black parents and are very fair-skinned with light eyes. Skin color is really a toss up, especially with African Americans, who have more recessive White and American Indian genes. Of course, for the most part, the more White blood you have the lighter you are. But you can't always tell how black someone is by how light or dark they are or their facial features.

They have DNA tests that tell you how much African, European, and Asian blood you have. That's the only way you can tell. A dark brown friendof mine took one last month and she was shocked to find out she was almost 40% White and 5% Native American.
