For African American Women?

I've been getting a perm since I was little, Im thinkin about going natural and growing it out. Does anybody have any warnings or suggestions about growing my hair out, like is it going to be hard to manage, or is it better than a perm? I need some advice!

Now, Im black of course.LOL!! Going natural to me is the best and most beautiful thing, cause its yours. Now, if you do decide to not get perms anymore, remember to keep it conditioned. Its gonna take time for your hair to grow out of its perm. Therefore, to keep your hair from breaking off, keep it conditioned. I would say at least twice a month. Depends on your hair too. Its best to talk to a professional black hairstylest. They have the best answers for you. Anyways, Ive been thinking about going natural myself, cause ive been getting perms since i was little. Plus, ive been cutting my hair since............ forever. And once you go short, its hard to let your hair grow back. So, im trying to stay away from the perms and stop cutting my hair. What im going to start doing tho, is just let a stylist do my hair maybe every two to three weeks. Let them condition it and cut the ends if needed. I think having someone with some experience train your hair will make it grow quick. You just have to find the right person. Find someone who has gone to school for hair, and has been doing hair for a long time. Dont go to no college. I tell u..............DANGER!!!!

Congrats on letting go of the relaxer.. You're going to have a happier and healthier head..

Visit the links below so you'll have an easier time transitioning between natural and relaxed..

its also alot diffrent caring for natural hair.. you'll make mistakes and learn as you go.. tiz best to do the research now.

Well, good luck! I know so many people who went natural and their hair's healthy. I heard the best way to start is to start growing your new growth out, then snip off the relaxed ends. A good way to grow your natural hair out is to put it in braids for 3 - 4 months (not so tight though!). Be sure to wash the braids weekly and use Infusium 23 to keep the hair strong.

While transitioning, be sure to use lots of leave-in conditioner and deep condition weekly, because hair is bound to fall out a lot. Good products are Infusium and Pantene.

Also, since you're going Natural, don't forget to trim your hair every 10 - 12 weeks!

Good luck!

It's not going to hard to grow out. Now you will have to start pressing it, or just wear it natural. Just keep apply some sort of moisture on it so it wont become dry and brittle.
