Which is less damaging? Going to a Dominican Salon or to a regular hair salon.?

I am African American and recently started getting my hair done at the Dominican salon. It is way less expensive than my hair salon and my hair is much softer and I don't require touch-up relaxers as often. They roller set you hair first and when it dries they round brush it into a feather wrap.. No flat irons or curling irons are used. However, the blow dryer is extremely hot and burns you scalp with eact section dried. On the other hand my hair dresser puts me under the hair dryer with my hair combed straight. Then once dried she blow dries it all over w/a dryer attachment and then flat irons my hair. Any info?

i'd have to say the way the Dominican salon is doing it is better..not many salons do it that way, but that was the way i was taught in cosmetology school to straighten hair and it works awesome..even though the salon i work in doesn't have the equipment to do that, so i don't get to practice a wrap..i guess i would just ask that place if they can keep the heat down on the hair dryer and be more careful of how they point it at your scalp..but they are doing way less damage to your hair..i would go with that...so great to know there is someone out there doing it right!

The Dominican, because they are only using a blow drier.

well you always have to choose a salon based on your hair texture- sometimes white people cant do black hair (THATS ONLY SOMETIMES THOUGH) as for a salon, id go to the dominican salon, when your hair is soft and manageable you have acheived healthy hair, obviously they know what they are doing. feather wraps are the best suggestion for african american hair, it gives our hair that full bouncy, touch, the hair falls into place with out much work, and it looks GOOD. the other salon is not working for you drying your hair straight is so not an option because drying the hair that way kind of sweals the style in, that is why we wrap and sit under the dryer, because the heat seals the wrap in. Irons and such damage the hair and if your hair is permed you dont need a flat iron to straighten it allot. go with the people who know what they are doing and charging you less to do it. you cant loose. 閳?br>Which is less damaging? I don't know any thing about the Dominican Salon.

The Dominican salon is better for your hair because it doesn't have as high of heat used by the irons. However, if it burns your scalp, ask them to turn it down or keep it a little further from your head. Some people are more tender headed than others and the stylist may not realize how hot your scalp gets! Don't be afraid to speak up!
