What could have caused hair breakeage?

To African American women: My daughter hair suddenly got shorter cant figure out why? The beautican says it thinning. We have always blown dryed her hair and that never affected it. We keep it mosturized. What can I do to solve this problem. I need solutions please. we cant figure out what could have cause this. Relaxer maybe? although she has gotten them in the past and no problem.

What could have caused hair breakeage?

It could be that the relaxer was overlapped over already relaxed strands...

do not go to a stylist that knows nothing about hair care, that is a disaster waiting to happen.

just lay off of the blow drying for awhile and do deep conditioning treatments, oil her hair, no petroleum or mineral oil products, they make hair issues worse.

What could have caused hair breakeage?

The relaxer could have overlapped where it was previously relaxed, causing breakage. Or if she wears her hair up a lot, the tension could cause it to break.

What could have caused hair breakeage?

I may be way off base here, but it sounds like what ever is wrong with your daughters hair is the stylists fault and the stylist doesn't want to admit it so she will blame it on other things. She may have over done it with a relaxer, such as over lapped it. Was a pressing comb used on her hair, because hair that is relaxed should NEVER have a pressing comb usd on it. That will really break and damage the hair. It will also get thinner. Is your daughters hair actually falling out or is it breaking off? If it is falling out, take her to a dermatologist ASAP to get to the root of the problem.

How to make my hair last through gym class?

I'm African American and have relaxed hair. I straighten it sometimes in the morning and it's fine the first two blocks, but then when 3rd block rolls around in gym, it frizzes and I have to have it in a ponytail for the rest of the day. Is there any way I can make my hair survive?

How to make my hair last through gym class?

Ha. . . I have the same problem. But PE for me is 7th period and we only have 8 periods. Well, we have to run around our school park and usually its like 99% humidity. But, hey its better than having it in 5th period, where its still morning and there is morning dew still.

Anyway, If you straighten your hair, straighten it in sections and in between sections, spray some African Pride hair oil on it. I put mine in a spray bottle. Don't put too much or the flat iron will make your head burn and it hurts like a beyotch!

Then, at night, wrap your hair in 2-4 bandanas. Then, in the morning, style it like usual and spray on some anti-frizz serum that DOES NOT CONTAIN WATER. . . because that will deactivate the straightening. Look around on folica.com. I personally use a 1" flat iron (True Ceramic Pro) and I've had it since January and it's still holding strong. I use Redken Glass Smoothing Serum and their shampoo %26amp; conditioner anti-frizz products. Oh, and be sure to use a WATER FREE heat protector.

If you are willing to spend the money, get some products of the same criteria by BioSilk or CHI. They work marvelously. TIGI's line of Bedhead works too for a cheaper effective product and as does got2be. And whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat. . . DO NOT use ANYTHING by Conair. To be bluntly honest, those products are fer white folks, and even on my white friends, their products still FRY your hair.

Ugh, bad experience. %26gt;.%26lt;

How to make my hair last through gym class?

Quit the class

How to make my hair last through gym class?

bring your straightener to school. you should have enough time to give it a quick fix, even if you have to hurry with getting dressed.

How to make my hair last through gym class?

use an anti frizz cream from Herbal Essences ( you can also use the none of your frizzness shampoo and conditioner from Herbal Essences as well)

trust me, my best friend has the exact same problem, and her stylist recommended it and she hasnt have frizzy hair for like a year now

Should i bleach my hair first?

im african american with dark brown hair and i want to dye the top hot pink. but i need to know what is the best dye to use and will i have to bleach my hair first to get the full effect?

Should i bleach my hair first?

I recommend using Manic Panic. And leaving it in for an hour or more (you can with this dye, because it hasn't got the bleach chemicals for bleach). And it isn't tested on animals

:]

Don't use Fudge or Paintbox. They don't last long. And makes your hair not so good looking.

You will need to bleach your hair to achieve the pink.

Don't forget to give it a deep condition after you've done dying your hair. [:

Good luck

Should i bleach my hair first?

please act sensible bleaching spoils ur hair .u'll be a butt of every one's jokes

Should i bleach my hair first?

can i reccomend stargazer? the products are vegan are are definitely NOT tested on any animals. i use shocking pink semi-permanant dye- its fab :D if you want bright pink hair, rather than a hint of pink, then im afraid you will need to bleach your hair.... give it serious thought for at least a couple of weeks. they sell the bleach on stargazer too.

http://www.stargazer-products.com/

i dunno bout urs, but on my monitor the swatch shows up rather purpley- i assure u- ive used this product many times- its def bright pink~ no purple :)

hope this helps :)

best of luck with ur funky new look :D

Should i bleach my hair first?

if you were to bleach your hair, then put a pink dye on it, after a while it would fade, and you would have to keep re-dying it every few weeks or it'll look stupid lol

good luck!

Hair breakage and I dont use chems, color or heat!?

Im African American and I have been wearing my hair natural since June of last year. My hair is verrrry coarse and tight in its natural state. I use verrrry minimal heat, I blow dry it once a month for about 5-10 mins so it doesnt even come close to being straight, and I dont use any chems. Every night I twist it into about 30 twists to keep it manageable, and a few nights a week I add olive oil. I take the hair, skin and nails multi vitamin from GNC. I trim every few weeks, so why are the ends breaking off, and why does it sometimes feel brittle? Some are clearly split, others are just little hairs. Since I dont do anything to damage my hair, what is the problem? Should I be worried? What do you suggest?

Hair breakage and I dont use chems, color or heat!?

u need a hot oil treatment ...its not a chem but i moisturises your hair and scalp it seems your having problems b/c of your scalp being dry and scalling

Hair breakage and I dont use chems, color or heat!?

have your thyroid checked!

Hair breakage and I dont use chems, color or heat!?

Do you pull it back a lot? Even twisting it could be what is happening. I would not worry unless it is falling out. However the twisting and if you pull it back could be causing the breakage.

Hair breakage and I dont use chems, color or heat!?

it could be how you comb/brush your hair. Only comb brush your hair when it is wet and has some conditioner in it. it could also be hair how you chose to transition to your natural hair. it also could be your hair growing out damaged because of the chemicals you use to put in it.

Colored my hair?

is it okay to perm if i colored my hair two weeks ago today. im african american sista. anyone that is a licensed beautician your responses are greatly apprecited also.

Colored my hair?

AS it says on the box instructions inside...how to pre treat, etc.

Use caution when attempting this feat...you could cause breakage.

Colored my hair?

You should be fine but next time you may want to relax, then color your hair because the relaxer might change the color you applied.

Colored my hair?

Baby girl I would wait a little longer. You probably want a change so If you must use a semi permenant color it has less damage than permanent. Like clairols Jazzin.

Colored my hair?

If u really dont need a perm now i would wait! But if u really need one use the olive oil treatment perm it is an all natural perm but does less harm to the hair!!

Colored my hair?

my wife is a hairdresser and she says..." perming can be a tricky thing sometimes.. make sure that your hair is strong enough to perm first as some haircolours can dry out your hair a little bit. Some hairdressers will go for the quick buck and say " yeah it's fine" even tho it is dry... you can see how strong your hair is first by taking a piece of it and stretching it, don't pull too hard.. you should feel some bouncey resistance. If you don't feel any resistance and it snaps... do some deep conditioning treatments for a couple of weeks to get your hair into shape before getting a perm. Be sure to tell your hairdresser who is going to be doing the perm the type of haircolour you used (if you didn't have it professionally coloured and you used a box colour or a henna). Most haircolours are fine to use prior to perming but some haircolours contain " metallic dyes" which can conflict with the perm being used on your hair.. causing a hair drying or melting effect... turning your hair into a mushy mess ( kind of like cotton candy). Most colours now days don't have it.. but air on the side of caution and check just to be sure. If you used a box colour and it doesn't say on it if it is a metallic dye... then call the 1-800 number on the box and make sure. As for your colour itself, chances are the perm will alter the colour by fading it. The best way to go when wanting to colour and perm, is to do the perm first. But don't fret, you can re-colour your hair if it changes the colour too much as long as you aren't lightening it and are depositing colour into it. After you get your perm ask your hairdresser to use a demi colour on it, it contains lots of nice conditioning agents and the colour will turn out beautifully. If you want to colour it yourself at home then wait a good few days so you don't straighten the perm. I hope my advice is helpful!

Good luck!

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

I have really, really tight curls. As an african american woman with thick hair, I'm kind of scare to just dive right in and experiment because I don't want to end up looking crazy. I want my curls to loosen and lay, and be easier for me to manage. I really don't want the curly fro' because it doesn't fit well with me. I need to know which one is better, a hair straightener (not a perm), or a texturizer. I heard they both loosen up curls, but I need to know which one has the best results. HELP!

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

i think a texturizer would do what you are looking for...visit your hair dresser though for expert advice

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

i think straighters will look good on you

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

I wouldn't straighten it if I were you.

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

This tells about better hair straighteners,

http://hair.21publish.com/

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

I personally recommend that you try thermal straightening instead of chemical straightening. If you use a straightening comb or iron to loosen up your curls, be sure to use moderate, not high, heat. Also be sure to use a good quality pressing oil on your hair prior to straightening it to help protect your hair and to help the comb (or iron) glide through your hair. Thermal straightening (if done with moderate heat) is reversible, so if you don't like the results, all you have to do is wet your hair and the tight curls will return. Chemical straightening (a texturizer or relaxer), on the other hand, is not reversible. If you don't do it properly, or if someone else does it for you and it is not done properly, or if your hair can't handle the caustic chemicals used in chemical straighteners, it will damage your hair and the only way to repair the damage will be to grow new hair.

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

Well texturizer and straighteners are totally different it would all depend on what your trying to achieve. To me it sounds like a texturizer would fit your needs better. good luck.

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

Try both on a little peice of hair

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

it depends on your hair and what you are looking to do with it. As a professional hair designer I would really need to see your hair. It depends on the condition of the hair

Which is better, hair straighteners or texturizers?

try both

Whats wrong with my hair???

okedoke, i am mostly native american, but i am mixed with ethiopian and french..sssoooo i have really really really thick hair!..also it is very curly, so i use a chemical no-lye relaxer for african american women becuase that is what my hair texture is like...even though i use the relaxer my hair is really healthy..no split ends, my hair or scalp is not dry or anything...but here is the problem...i shed..ALOT!...i shed soo much that after 1 brushing of my hair my hairbrush is no longer recognisable as a hairbrush and looks like some furry creature!..my hair is constantly on my clothes, clogging the drain...everywhere!..but somehow my hair remains super thick!..i don't know if this is healthy..or what?, there is no sign on damage at all..no thinning or anything, like i said perfectly healthy!

i need to stop sheeding like a siberian husky in arizona!...i don't even have long hair!

Whats wrong with my hair???

1. Do you brush too hard? A lot of people with thick curly hais do that. So, if you do, then try and be a bot more gentle.

2. Do you shed more in a particular season/ surrounding/ location? If yes, get yourself tested for allergies.

3. Try and stop using the relaxer for sometime. See if that makes a difference.

4. Oil your hair (pref use an oil with vitamin E) every alternate day, and wash the next morning.

5. Try mending your eating habits. Sometimes oily/ rich/ spicy food can cause hair loss. Shift to fruits/ salads/ soups for sometime.

6. Mend your biological clock. sleep on time rise on time, excerise a bit - and eat well (and healthy)

Hope this helps.

Whats wrong with my hair???

ccchhhhannnges

Whats wrong with my hair???

shave it down start fresh

Whats wrong with my hair???

Well it could be lots of things,...

A) your biochemistry has developed an allergy to the "relaxant" that you use on your hair.

B) Something in your environment is affecting your physiology, and your body is reacting in a negative way. For example, toxic fumes, gases, or solids you've been exposed to. Some homes have been found to vent something called "Dioxins" which are detrimental to humanoids. The EPA does recommend that homeowners have detectors in their homes for dioxin contaminants.

C) There is something in your diet that your body is allergic to or has developed an allergy too.

D) Have you consulted a physician, perhaps you can get a Skin %26amp; Hair specialist to run tests.

E) Do you have a family history of premature hair loss, if this is the case, then there is no remedy. If its in your genes, its either your mom's or your dad's side of the family that is to blame.

What ever the situation, perhaps its time to look into getting into wigs as an alternative or simply looking on the brightside, at least you won't have to trouble yourself with the excessive fussings of hair fashions, and the expense of the maintenence of hair care.

Actually some women do look more sophisticated as well as more dignified without the trappings of Hair fashions. Its all in your own values. How you adapt to changes and how you come to terms with them.

Good luck sweetie

mahalo!!

Whats wrong with my hair???

watch your diet. Eat a balanced one. and try to lessen your usage of hair products.

Whats wrong with my hair???

Stop brushing your hair so much, this causes your hair to stretch and snap off. Get an extra wide tooth comb and a natural bristle brush. Brush only to smooth it down, just a few strokes.

Whats wrong with my hair???

I am part Native American, so I too have very thick hair. However, my hair is mostly wavy and not curly. I have the same problem that you have with my hair falling out in large amounts and finding it everywhere, My hair does not look damaged and is also healthy, but the falling out hair has been a problem.
